after having WOW already translated in several languages (English, German, Italian, French, Spanish, Portugal and Russian) please translate WOW system language also in Serbian or Croatian or Bosnian - LATIN script.
Here is the deal - since we were in Yugoslavia before, under TITO, many people know how to speak Croatian, Bosnian, Serbian. These three languages are very similar and most people from Slovenia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Albania know this language too.
So if you translate the wow system language to, let say, Serbian - latinic script - loads of people will understand it and you will definitely get more players. Lets face it - wow is impossible to play if you have no idea what you are doing/reading.
People, please, don’t fight over this topic and don’t spit on it. BE SUPPORTIVE, BE UNITED. Together we can achieve something here.
Do you have any idea how difficult it is to translate WoW into a new language? The cost itself is huge, much more than they will make selling the game in those languages.
I understand what you preach and want to happen but as a Serbian myself that has a good understanding of the English language I don’t really have the need to translate wow into Slavic languages. Also question I keep asking my fellow Slavs everytime is why is it hard to learn basic English language and play like the rest?.
Its a suggestion. Only Blizzard will know how much it costs and if it is worth it. The language we spoke in Yugoslavia could be used, since many people from that region understand it. Yes, Yugoslavia fell apart, we have different countries now - but to ask for a translation for each country, would be futile.
I am not saying separate servers should be made for us. I am asking just for the translation of the in game content and I know its a lot.
If they did it, they would either need to add new realms for those languages as otherwise the existing English ones would be flooded with languages the players of those English realms don’t understand.
I can see the chaos it would create because how would someone feel if I spoke Serbian on any realm would be interesting nontheles but would anger alot of people.
I understood it my friend you didn’t have to translate for me but it’s true our languages sound like that to westerners while let’s say Nords understand us to a point at least from my experience with Scandinavian people.
I can safely say as someone from Slovenia, that I have a very hard time understanding this language, and I’m not the only one on that.
So I would think twice about using this kind of translation.
As a Croatian myself I don’t see the need for this, a lot of of our people know English since the english language is included in a Croatian learning program starting even from an elementary school level. Besides a lot of our people have been playing WoW and a lot of other games on english for years, have been part of the international guilds in WoW and don’t have a problem with understanding and communicating with the other parts of the community from elsewhere.
Slavic languages are usualy bit hard to tanslate video games into. Also I don’t think Blizzard considers your part of the world as profitable enough market to make those translations.
I’m not a native english speaker but I prefer WoW in english becasue english is used as an international language and having this enviroment like a video game is a good platform to practise your english.
