I’ve had the same issue earlier, after digging up some old reddit thread i found a solution which was to disable the “cooldown manager” in the options lol, so try to log in with another character, disable this and try again
its a long shot of course but it did work for me
Im having the same problems as everyone else. Got stuck when trying to complete the first Khadgar quest. had to alt+F4 out of the game and getting the “A character with that name allready exists” message when trying to log back in. this has been ongoing for 3,5 hours. I have zero addons installed.

That is not the issue. I tested this by creating a new character and specifically not using edit mode or reloading UI. All the same bugs persist. Can’t complete quests, can’t view cut-scenes et cetera. There is clearly some kind of sync issue going on with their infrastructure. The fact that this is affecting both Legion Remix and Retail is telling.

I played in Remix for about one hour, all addons deactivated. No issue. As soon as I used the built in interface edit mode, to set my UI. then, bam, lag and impossible to unlog. forced to ALT+F4

I agree. However when blizzard gets that information in a “REMIX unplayable thread”, there respond is this.
“This thread is about Legion Remix. If you’re having issues with Retail, please check to see if there are other threads on this topic, or create a new one. 
”
The support and game sure isnt what it used to be.

I palyed for abour 3 hours, where 1hr was waiting for login after lag. I noticed all crital lag situations happen in Dalaran or at the Timewalkers isle next to it. I wasn’t able to complete remix quests. But legion campain worked fine.
when a game company tells you to ALT f4 to " fix" the issue
the game is bad.

Thanks for the chat so far!
We’re currently investigating this issue as a server issue, where players are going to experience being desync’d from the game. This will most likely be the cause of the quests not completing, NPCs not interacting with you, or characters being stuck on loading screens.
If this happens, please try to close the game, and log back in.
If you’re stuck on a loading screen, or receive a message saying that a character already exists, you will need to wait up to 15 minutes for the character to be booted off the game. You can also try the character unstuck self service.

I uninstalled the game and all its files and reinstalled it. I didn’t install any addons either. After playing with any character for 2-3 minutes, I start getting no response from the game server.
Having the same experience. I could do the first two quests. Talk to Khadgar. Kill demons. And then i’m stuck. I can move around but the whole world is frozen forever. I waited 15 minutes and it just lets me move around with nothing happening. Like I can’t cast spells, can’t jump, can’t turn in the quest for killing demons. Can’t log out.
My wife and I both are having the same issues. My PC is brand new, hers is older, but we both get the same bugs/lag etc. I think we can assume its not a hardware issue.
We’ve come to expect some bugs and small issues with each new update. Which, in itself, is kinda bad PR, isn’t it? Updates are supposed to fix things, not add bugs. But lately, each update adds more little bugs that get fixed a long time after, if at all. Still 2 minutes timer on sold AH items etc.
But this patch is the icing on the cake. How on earth is it possible? And I’ve not seen a post about a fix coming soon (may have missed it).
A while ago, someone found a “bug” with crafted trinkets giving more stats than intended in the Legion Mage tower challenges. It got fixed during the weekend, without any warning. Funny how stuff like that gets “solved” so fast.
Made a timerunner, when speaking to Khadgar everything stopped responding, had to F4 out.
Since then no character loads, anywhere, game is 100% unplayable.

For the sole purpose of recreating the issue, after having done a scenario quest, I ended up in Stormwind, everything was fine
Then, I entered the edit mode of the interface, and once again, desync from the world server.
I had to alt+f4 to disconnect
Oh come on, this is happening to every player across both legion and retail and the response is disable addons and create a separate thread for retail? Most of my guild have been stuck for hours now, not 15 mins and three of them are playing without addons.

Thanks for posting out the problem with interface edit mode. I logged in and didnt change anything, after that i could complete the khadgar quest just fine. Before this i always went into edit mode first, because it kept restting my interface and was stuck in the loop.

Can not even logout normaly .
- Cannot hand in ‘Time Crisis’ quest - game isn’t frozen but no server response.
- Cannot log out normally (need to hard crash the client)
- Cannot log back in as ‘A character with that name allready exists’ error comes up.
Broken. Come back later / tomorrow / next week 
Remember, a billion-dollar company.

I’m not even trying Legion Remix yet, because I knew from experience there would be massive bugs at launch.
But even retail is as busted as K’aresh itself. I was doing the campaign with another alt, had some lag during the Shadowguard attack on Ta’zavesh that got gradually worse, until I dcd. When trying to get back in, I’m stuck at the loading screen.
“Small Indie Company” strikes again.
