[Server Issue] Dear Blizzard

Dear Blizzard

I am writing this message in hopes that you will see the gravity of the situation we are in as a server. Over the recent few days, Soulseeker has experienced numerous server crashes, and random disconnects for players. I truly appreciate the swiftness with which you handled the first server crash, leading to players being resurrected.

However, the last few days with server issues, the community has not received any statements from Blizzard regarding the issue. If this does not change I am worried people will lose interest in playing on this server.

Our guild has been hit particularly hard since we lost several core raiders, including our GM in UBRS to the last disconnect. If these players are not resurrected, I am afraid our guild will stop raiding since we are a small guild.

And this may be true for many other guilds and players, too.

So I plead to you, Blizzard, please respond to the community, who cherish and love your game.

Kind regards,
Olav

I lost my character (level 55 orc warrior Rakaredeye on Soulseeker server) due to the mass disconnects in the night 31st of July - 1st of August too. So did many more as i know now. Everyone i spoke to said this is probably due to DDoS attacks.

Hardcore is hardcore, including everything. But it is still a game and the servers need to run. If they don’t, Blizzard should roll back the effect for those involved.

A guildie, who died on the 1st of August, got this reply from a GM, after having submitted a ticket

Greetings [guild member’s name]

I am Game Master Smimoriath at your service, and I have checked your ticket today regarding the loss of your Hardcore character due to what seemed like a DDoS.

So, your character was defeated on a Hardcore server and you believe it may have been due to a DDoS attack. After checking, I can comfirm that there have been no recent DDoS events affecting our servers.

What you likely experienced was a momentary disconenct or network instability, something that can sometimes happen doe to your ISP’s connection path to our servers. Even small interruptions or micro-outages can result in these disconnections, and I understand how painful that can be in Hardcore mode.

But, once a character is defeated in Hardcore, we are unable to revive or restore them under any circumstances. This is a fundamental part of the Hardcore experience and the challenge it brings. It happened to me that a level 13 boar resisted my beast taming, and chased me until it defeated me outside Loch Modan. I know how difficult it is to lose a character in Hardcore mode, knowing that it’s hard to elvel up and, above all, to suervive.

I hope I have clarified all your doubts regarding this topic. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to concact us again at any time.

Sincerely
Game Master Smimoriath

How can Blizzard blame this on the ISP, when hundreds of players from different countries all got disconnected over a period of a few minutes.

Also what is that story about the boar. Does the GM think dying to a 13 mob is relatable to losing a 60 character to disconnect?

Well this looks like an AI generated answer. It was an obvious DDOS when hundreds if not thousands of players disconnected at once.
This is not what hardcore supposed to be and dying like that is very frustrating because it fully depends on external factors we have no impact on.
On my run all group got dced when half of them died to a disconnect on August 1st at 23:08 during ubrs run.

I hope Blizzard will address that problem soon as the longer it takes to take position on the topic the more frustrated we are with less and less will to playing. If my character is not revived I m done with the game and many others too. I would accept losing my character to any other reason but not DDOS.

To the Blizzard Developers,

A collective message from the guild Soul of Iron Soulseeker Horde

Our guild is very large and prominent on hardcore WoW servers, with many streamers and outstanding progress in the game. Unfortunately, in recent days, we have experienced an unpleasant situation in our beloved game.

Due to DDoS attacks on the servers, we are losing raiders every day before the release of AQ40/AQ20. We kindly ask the developers to pay attention to this post and help us continue our progress. People are dying every day due to disconnections at random times, and these deaths are not their fault!

The essence of hardcore gameplay is surviving against in-game mechanics, not external factors! Especially when this is a widespread issue.

Below, I will list the names of players who died during recent mass DDoS attacks:

Huntervi, level 60 hunter July 29, 2025 0:50 am

Ordzig, level 60 warrior 01 Aug , 2025 0:35 am

Karterii, level 60 priest 01 Aug , 2025 0:35 am

These are just 60-level raiders with good gear; there are also dozens of players with less developed characters. You can check the times they died and see that this is a mass issue.

We kindly ask the developers to assist in helping a large guild continue its progress!

Please help with the activity by indicating the nicknames of your characters, as well as those who have died in the recent days due to daily DDOS attacks.

It’s absolutely incredible that Blizzard would respond like that. To talk about a ‘momentary disconnect’ or ‘network instability’ when hundreds of players were disconnected at the same time is just playing with words to avoid admitting a problem on their end, like a DDoS attack or a server issue.

Claiming the problem could be due to our connection is completely absurd and frustrating, especially in Hardcore mode. The lack of logic and consistency in their character resurrection policy—where some characters are revived and others are not—just adds to the frustration and highlights this absence of coherence.
