Server Populations

reposting because I accidentally posted on the normal classics!

What’s the deal with server pops on the game? I was playing Alliance on Golemagg with a couple of friends and when we got to Stormwind we found it basically empty and doing a bunch of /who showed virtually no one anywhere. Are some servers faction graveyards?

To clarify: I’ve never played Classic until now, and we’re not sure if we’re making a good choice if we have no one else to play with for content because I imagine the game won’t be doable for dungeons etc. if we’re only 3 people going through content.

Fairly sure Golemagg is horde only?

So you started new characters (all low level)?

In that case, if you want to play Alliance, choose a PVE realm (Nethergarde Keep, Pyrewood Village or Mirage Raceway) or Earthshaker.

Thekal (for wPVP, seems to have a pretty good faction balance) would be an option too.

All other PVP realms are horde dominated.

Edit: If you have some older, higher level characters or boosted characters it´s a bit more complicated, because Earthshaker, Pyrewood Village and Thekal do not accept transfers. You can only create new characters on those realms).

Seems its Horde Only ?

Just check the population on the horde side, and there are 20 people level 1-17 in Durator along.

But you are right, on the Alliance side its pretty much empty, lol.

You can use ironforge.pro to check out population on servers. Golemagg is 100% horde

There’s free transfers off Golemagg to Ashbringer AFAIK.
Ashbringer is only 8-9 horde per 1 Alliance vs ~75 horde per 1 Alliance on Golemagg.

edit:

If you’re new you should start on Thekal instead. It’s a fresh PvP server with a 50/50 balance and the bulk of new players are getting sent there if they select PvP preference.
