Server transfer and forced name change caused my Forum account to reset

Hello!

After server transfer and forced name change (my original name was taken in the realm) my Forum account did reset. I could not access my “old” character profile here. I lost all the messages I had sent as well as all the likes I have given or received. Amount of messages sent went to 0 and I have had to grow it from the start. It also meant that my Forum rank did reset. Even I had sent the original messages with this very same character, name of those messages posted did not change - they still had my old char name.

Is this normal? Any solutions?

From what I have seen, it is what happens on a server transfer or a character rename.

What you can do, is create a level 1 on the original realm with the original name and I believe your forum history and rank would populate against it. It’s worth a try and I know many don’t like posting on a level 1 but I guess it’s an option?

Meh. I would rather keep posting with my main character tbh. I see no reason to keep posting with level 1 character with my original name on it. I use to play on Bloodfeather under name Liue and after transferring to Silvermoon everything was gone.

I mean, I don’t understand why server transfer / faction change / character rename should reset all the hard work you have done in the Forums? It’s after all the same character and I think you should be able to refresh and update your character list somehow?

I would guess the forum software is off the shelf and can only be partially integrated into Blizzards systems.

I think Steinberg use the same software slightly altered.

All forum activity is unfortunately tied to character name and realm … hence Shammoz’s suggestion that the only way to get your history back is making a level 1.

That is quite sad to be honest. I thank you both of your answers, tho I might send a suggestion to Blizzard about this as so many players keep transferring their characters nowadays. Losing everything you have achieved in the Forums does not really bolster the motivation.
