Servers and population

Hi all

Thinking of swapping servers because mine is pretty quiet a lot of the time (Dragonblight/Ghostlands)

I’m looking for a server with a semi decent split of Alliance and Horde with a better server economy and decent population, any thoughts on a decent server that you can think of?

Thank you.

So what you are saying is that Ghostlands is a… ghost land?!

Though more seriously, give up on looking for split servers, they are oddities rather than norms.

Otherwise it’s probably the full/high population servers you want but only some of them are social outside of guilds.

Sites like these can help give you an indication of populations and faction split.

Before you spend any money moving, it’s worth noting a lot of activities are cross faction now also going forward in TWW realms will no longer affect guilds. You should be able to join from anywhere.

It’s not really active guilds that I’m looking for, I’m essentially just looking for a server where there’s actually people, the only place I see people is in Valdrakken, where as on a server like say Argent Dawn I see folks in SW IF Etc, but on Dragonblight I maybe see 1 or 2 other folks in the main cities, I’m looking for a server that actually looks populated, I see people in trade etc all the time but never see anyone in the world as such.

I find sharding is the biggest culprit at making the world seem quieter than it is.

There is also due to blizzards prolonged inaction with curbing the carry spam that pushed people to external forums.

I’m not sure I understand what you mean with that? How does that affect how many people we see in the world?

Sharding makes it feel similar even if you’re on a high-pop realm, I’m on Silvermoon and it still feels like that unless you’re in Vald.

Dang it, that’s a shame, I kind of miss seeing familiar names regularly :frowning:

You’ll only get that on an RP realm which is sharded far less. I’m on Draenor and I play in WM off but I rarely see my own guildies let alone see names regularly.

I’d say another thing that plays a role in this in particular is that toons are more disposable nowadays… easy to level, boost, gear up… you might be actually seeing “familiar people” they’re just not that loyal to a main like they used to be. People who miss that feeling probably flock to Classic now too

Well according to Blizzard there are several million people playing, so population shouldn’t be an issue on any issue xD

Realm now only effects a little part of economy and Mythic raiding:

  1. All commodities, all items that stack, are region wide in AH. Restricted to realm are armor and weapons, mounts, toys, pets, professional tools, recipes, bags (containers), quest items, etc.
  2. Crafting orders are realm restricted.
  3. Mythic raiding is realm restricted from start of a season up to Hall of Fame point of time (Mythic is done by 200 guilds).
  4. Guilds are realm restricted now, but will become region wide in TWW.

Everything else is not connected to realm anymore. Other players in open world are dynamic with sharding. LFG and LFR are region and language wide. Custom groups are region wide. Guild will be region wide in next expansion. Even trading and gold sending now is region wide. So you want to transfer only for 3 reasons mentioned above, which basically are crafting professions and Mythic raiding. Otherwise it doesn’t matter. This doesn’t cover RP realms, which are different story.

We don’t know about crafting yet but as Guilds are no longer going to be realm based in TWW, it’s fair to assume something will be done with those too.

Mythic restrictions are being removed as a result of the guild change.

I have a feeling they’re going to build ontop of that factionless systems and we’ll end up seeing that you can do anything with anyone.

You’re doing a quest in a zone and there is a Horde player doing it as well… well just go ahead and invite them into your group… and this World of WARcraft finally came to an end and gave birth to World of CAREcraft
