Blizzards client states join the war.
Hello I am from AD, I am now part of this conversation.
…and possibly more complex code than ever before with multiple layers and increased security and perhaps other features such as new spell systems and such? Do you remember how often the game was hacked 10 years ago? How often does that happen now? Do you know how much processing power per core is required to handle an n^2 operation with today’s systems tacked on? The devs have made it clear this is a n^2 optimization problem, which does not get solved by throwing more computers at it. It not being a problem 10 years ago is irrelevant–the code has likely changed a lot since then, and the game is more feature-rich. This means that each tick in the n^2 operation does more work.
My dude, you ought to read a little more about what this Law means before bringing up that argument. It essentially concludes that performance does not scale linearly in an indefinite manner when you throw more computers to a problem that has limited parallel scaling. Games are notoriously bad at parallel scaling.
More servers does not mean less lag if the code isn’t going to take advantage of those resources in an efficient way. Again, Ion has made it pretty clear that tackling lag will require them to analyze logs to figure out where the inefficiencies lie. If you want to actually help, submit a bug report when the lag happens and specify the time and location it happened, both in BG and in the open world
Disagreeing is not the same as being toxic.
So giving you information.
(So that you can learn)
Is toxic?
Must be a millennial.
Just because you have your tin foil hat on “bah it’s all blizzards fault, blizzard suck, blizzard this, blizzard that”.
You remind me of the people that go “ah this game just launched and it’s buggy, wtf it’s 2019”
Delusional and uneducated in the matters.
I’m just saying stop giving the guy a hard time because he’s trying to educate your thick skull.
Blunt but true.
see a true WPvP 40x40+ lags and ppl disconect this topic Blizzard just ignor
I gotta say; when an instanced activity such as a BG lags, you just know the servers are ran by the same people that clean the dust off of them.
It’s not like this is news to anyone, we all know blizzards servers are… meh at best.
But it also is like people forget or choose to ignore the over a decade old code the game still runs on.
While I fully agree they need to upgrade both hardware and software, we all knows that’s not happening when the CEO has to get a raise and everyone else gets the middle finger :>
today all server lags, i tested my chars on italian, french, english servers. low/medium/full pop realms
2-10 sec delay
i was downloading torrents so that might be the issue ;p
Why toxic? Theres Just simple explanation of whats happening inside of game engine, and Theres nothing wrong about it, also i dont see him defending blizz, its still a shame they didnt tested it out in order to prevent Such situations, its a BIG company. But looking at the problem from a realistic point od view isnt bad, you are acting like a mad religion fanatic, you believe in your rights and no matter how would somebody try to explain to you how does whole univerese work, and that earth isnt flat youll Just throw the s#*_#, into that person because “he want to destroy your believings and is against your religion” no, he doesnt give a… He Just want to show you something. How getting more serious knowledge about certain things is toxic or bad? Humanity…
Sometimes I dont know myself
I was about to say this, but you already did.
Giving truthful information that conflicts with someone’s world view, hopes, fantasies or dreams, is not being toxic.
It’s rather their servers being torn apart by the millions of phasing they have to do. Warmode, every quest being phased, way too many instances to handle, dynamic spawns, etc. In Legion, a 40v40 was certainly doable without major lag (bits were of course there, but nothing too crazy). Coding has nothing to do with it, even if its a 20year+old engine.
Despite the facts listed up by the green here Blizzard contradicts their own standards sometimes.
Today during KulTiran unlock i saw loads of people all around and of course everyone’s been lagging. Some people lagged so bad Flynn got stuck and did not move for them on the escort quest around the FreeHold area. I mean if there is some 40v40 going or its the first day of launch in 2019 ( ) sure we accept the usual conditions but come on do we have to lag like this while KT unlocking?
On the top of that when I was looking for Jaina on the Baine cinematic ship she was flooded around by players so much I had /target command her.
Other times everyone’s disappearing around quartermasters, command table and que-in-NPCs only to be totally skip this feature while doing the KT unlock? Genius!
Did they want to show off with the player numbers? It was immersive to have so many Heroes of Azeroth at the same time stacked up.
This game, Jesus…
grabs a cigarette
Dude… Everything was fine in Legion. There weren’t lags/spikes in big scale Legion PvP at all.
They changed something with BfA and
a) aren’t willing to fix it
or
b) don’t know how to fix it.
Issue is blizz arent a indie company they have ptrs they get feedback but for some reason half of it is ignored every single time they make millions no excuse for how bad the servers run at all. I get better servers from indie devs which is insane
sorry
CMs, QAs and Brain got fired last time
