there was an update this morning perhaps you missed it
I clicked on “Update and Restart”, and it did so. Unfortunately, I still see the same error.
Means your bnet launcher has forgotten an update.
I tried killing mine in task manager; didn’t help. Had to reboot the pc, then the launcher finally noticed there was an update. After that I could connect.
Thanks. I rebooted the PC, now it has downloaded another update, and it works.

It irks me that killing the battlenet updater in task manager isn’t enough! Needing reboots to get a program to work is atrocious. Just have a manual “update now” button
