I am not in their head, but I think they said in a recent PvE interview that they considered it because Rogues currently bring nothing to raid teams on top of not having that much damage anyway.
Raid mechanics didn’t, and wouldn’t I expect, be affected by the LoS effect of Smokebomb, it would only be here for the damage reduction. And having a 10% AoE damage reduction once every 3 min would be less of an issue than AMZ which was 20% every 2 minutes.
Yeah, and even without that one since we get Disarm back and all specs get a couple potentially interesting talents it would be nice to have room for them.
you wont be able to cheese no body like that in 9.1.I fianlly undertstand why they nerfed MA and removed coldblood. I never took advantge of this tho ,I play necro so its whatever for me.I think also next legendry will be shadowdust just alot of value , alot of consisent dmg due to 20 sec reduction you will have dance almost 80 % of time ,aslo Shadow Technique will proc more so more cb points = more dance cd reduction
maybe, but that’s pretty borderline right? and you’re doing pre-sepsis so the timing is more obvious and you need blades too. also are you starting at 100? cause you can also do a couple fire blasts as you kidney and then duel so you start lower, and priest can death when he comes out in case he survives. timing of having mage help is a little awkward though i think because it needs to still be fast enough that the enemy team doesn’t react to it, although sometimes that accidentally works out well. one time my mage did it too quickly and i got storm bolted into disarm into fear, but it was before i had time to even do anything so i just waited and did it after.
usually what we’ve been doing is opening with blades, 1dance, badge and maybe a blind to try to get something, then next dr kidney bomb combust with no dance to get trinket or amz or something. usually by then it’s enough and you just pool for the wombo combo and win. it’s been fairly reliable but not very fun.
one thing i really hate about playing for duel is how you’re not allowed to vanish. i have so many games of arena where i’ve been taught that vanishing here would be good, but i’m not allowed to. every fiber of my being is screaming vanish so i have to fight myself and instead trade cloak and evasion and almost die through.
i really like deeper atm generally speaking. been playing a lot of deeper nightstalker without dark shadow. the 6p kidney and the extra damage is really helpful i feel. also been playing a lot of cheat death saved me a lot cause comps that kill me in stuns just kill me through pre-feinting anyway. it does noticeably save on mana to have feint though.
nah, not really. amz was different. rally and darkness aren’t problematic. amz has the insane combination of being incredibly strong while only being a 2 minute cooldown. plus amz is attached to dk, which is an already insane class that has execute, aoe, ams, ibf, grip, grabby hands and death’s advance. unholy dk was an outlier in every sense in castla nathria.
Yes amz is strong in PvE, eventho it was stronger in past expansions, on top of dk being good, not as amazing as you are describing it. Primary reason of dk choices in PvE was azm mostly, as it was described in interview with Ion, since there are better specs who provide better dmg. I don’t really care a lot about pve, since all I do is getting curve and I didn’t even use amz at any point on my road ( that’s how easy are heroics this days), but nerfing it in pvp is pretty big and nerfs itself doesn’t make a lot of sense either.
for CN unholy dk has insane utility while bringing useful dps niches. bringing “better damage” is just a part of it. raids are not patchwerk, not usually anyway.
will that be the same in next tier? well, design mechanics differently and maybe ams isn’t cloak on half the cooldown. no stun mechanics and suddenly ibf goes from nuts to meh. do you need grips? execute any good? well, usually it is.
Well I watched Mes checking out new amz and tooltip said that it was absorbing around 50 k. If it will go on live that I don’t see amz being that big deal anymore.
Raid boss encounter mechanics matter a lot when it comes to a decisions of which spec is good for them.
In the end I really dislike the change, since it affects pvp too. 2 min cd matters a lot since it lines with big burst caster cds, on top of having limited absorb and duration decreased too. Don’t know how they came to that type of nonsense, but I have a feeling that 2-3 man was thinking about how to change it and all of them made their own nerf.
yeah they probably overnerfed amz. broken thing was strength+cooldown, but they nerfed strength, cooldown and duration. probably fine if it was full strength but on like a 4 min cd or something or maybe 10-15% on a 2 min cooldown.
probably easiest if you wanted to preserve it in pvp would’ve been to just make it a smaller damage reduction in pve, like how lots of abilities do less or more damage in pvp.
This line of reasoning is, for a lack of better wording, incredibly stupid. All it does is invalidate any attempts at trying to have a discussion about problematic abilities by having people go full “no u” at each other.
