Sublety Rogue right now are S tier and have access to the best crowd control in the game on top of an immense amount of burst damage which isn’t limited to a singular 2 minute cool-down. As of right now, they have 2 charges of Shadow dance (15% damage), Symbol (30%) , Shadow Blades (20%+) and Flagellation (which is around a 40% damage burst inc)
Now due to these multitude of burst cool-down combining this with Shadowy Duel is absolutely absurd. Outside of a few specialization, if you do not have Trinket and the Rogue has 2 of the above CD. he is capable of Shadowy Dueling you and killing you within it’s duration with ZERO counter play. Unless you are with a Warrior (who can fear), or a Priest who can Dome/AOE heal through Shadowy Duel. there is absolutely No Counter play.
Now we could say SUB rogue deserve a 20-30% damage nerf then because with all the tools, they shouldn’t be taking people form 100% to 0 within 6 seconds on his own. However Rogue would complain and well who else is going to boost in 2s and sit outside Stormwind trolling people in duels?
As such, Rogue should LOSE shadowy Duel OR! a 50% damage penalty should be implemented for BOTH the rogue and the target within Shadowy Duel, making the ability have a very niche place of Finishing a low health target, or using it to remove themselves and another target from the battle for a short period of time to allow a change in the game flow.
As of Right now Sublety Rogue in maximum gear are absurdly broken in the vast majority of situation and should be addressed.
P.S yes ALL Paladin should lose 50% damage during Divine Shield. As a Retribution, I want to be punished for not using my wings at the correct time, rather than simply bubbling to offset that misplay. As a Retribution I don’t want another Retribution bubbling and 1 shotting with no counter play. However once again, if a target is very low health, sacrificing 50% my damage to kill may be a worth sacrifice of my major CD. but it’s not guaranteed due to losing 50% of my damaging during it. The exact same premise of Shadowy Duel.
So instead of removing it, you are suggesting you place it in a talent row with blind which effectively means you remove shadowy duel and smoke bomb out of existance.
I don’t like shadowy duel either and thankfully it will become less mandatory when we get disarm as a peel but what you are suggesting is silly.
i don’t like playing for 1 dance duel wins but it feels like the only option into some comps, mainly warrior cleaves.
have to play really awkwardly to gather the whole wombo combo so not that fun to play, doesn’t feel satisfying to win and i’m sure it’s not fun to lose to either. don’t like how all in it feels either, very rarely win when you go for it and it doesn’t work. but gotta play to win as well.

Topic wise its hard to kill somebody in duel cuz it takes away half of your energy you have to set it up pretty good ,and it works moslty on lower gear players
I don’t like duel, I think it shouldn’t exist as a spell personally. The whole ability is so clunky in itself and how it interacts with so many abilities and funnily enough for most of its existence, was used purely for extending CC heh
Well it is (or was) almost a guaranteed re-stealth since there’s a bug (lol…quelle surprise, unless its been fixed) where you can re-stealth if you don’t get hit the second before it ends, regardless of what happened in the duel.
you gather 6p, then you pool. kidney and duel, then symbols to get energy back and dance and you have enough energy. need nightstalker/deeper/dark shadow, dance, symbols, badge, vanish, flag, 6p, slice, full energy bar. realistically also need trinket or a cloak or evasion to immune the aoe cc you inevitably get hit by.
i can 100-0 warriors through defensive stance, it’s plenty of damage. problem is moreso if you get cc’d by aoe stuff, they have a disc priest or a resto sham or they’re a class that doesn’t die to it because they have multiple trinkets or good defensives they can use while stunned.
Why is it that every time someone raises a concern about something broken there’s always atleast one person that counters with “well then X class should lose Y ability !!111”. Just stick to the damn topic for once. Not that hard!
I reply whatever i want you derplord. If your class can hit someone for 3x 7k jugement, followed by 25k final verdict and then hit 18k wake of ashes, you are in NO place to complain about ANYTHING in this game. You complain just to complain. Its annoying asf

Blind, smoke and Shadowy Duel all being available to be used at the same time is just too much, especially considering all the CCs you have, and two other defensives you have as well. Those three should be an decision making rogues would have to make instead of just having it all
This is really overkill most of the time. On one of my alts, Night Fae at that, when it was still between 2.4 and 2.5 (saying this so that we can assume opponents weren’t complete dummies) I could kill equally geared players with only Deeper Stratagem as a talent, no Nightstalker, no Dark Shadow and no badge. Pooling, pre using Sepsis for the mastery, and then going with that and Symbols Shadowblades Vanish was enough for most of the kills. Even a DStance Warrior often dies with only that. The only issue is that people start to notice that you play the 7s Kidney, and thus have Deeper, and if you don’t pop anything they can often hold trinket unless you setup a superb Combust and no one else who has a defensive usable in a stun for your Duel can trinket to peel.
But anyway my point is that being able to duel kill people doesn’t require as much as what people believe, and it’s very silly. It shouldn’t realistically be possible, at least no as easily as it is now.
They might actually make it baseline again for raid utility, mind you.
Didn’t they remove it due to all the problems it caused bypassing raid mechanics, similarly to how AMZ has been a problem of late? Why would they add it back to then have to work around it again.
