Hi,
I’ve been playing a fair bit of 2v2, I’m geared, know what I’m doing, got a strong healer and plenty of high rated experience.
However it’s almost impossible to win a 2v2 match for a few reasons.
Stealth classes kite you forever, and since you have no mobility spells and cannot talent into them without handicapping yourself immensely, you will never get a kill if they LoS you.
You’re disabled 50% of the match, either by interrupt (despite fake casting) or by another form of cc. This makes it insanely hard to have any form of uptime, from a class that has to stand still and hardcast all their spells.
Your dots SUCK. Every healer in the game, and most melees too, can dispell your dots. And since our mastery is tied into them, making us do virtually no damage without them, you will never get a kill. All you can do is spam dots, get dispelled, interrupted and repeat.
You get out DPS’ed vs. any other dps.
My proposed solution:
Make it punishable to dispell priest dots, and make devouring plague (our biggest source of damage) undispellable. It is not fair a warlock can do 10k damage and silence for 4 seconds to anyone who dare dispell their dots. Meanwhile priests, who are ATLEAST as reliant on ours, get only a 3 second fear?
A solution to this could be to give 50 insanity to the priest when Vampiric Touch is dispelled, and make devouring plague undispellable. This would make the priest able to funnel damage into another target if they are dispelled, and feels like a good approach to allow counterplay to dots. This idea only works however if DP is UNDISPELLABLE!
I would also love seeing some tuning to mind flay, both in PvE and PvP, because it feels like you do no damage at all when standing still casting very long channeling spell, it should pack a punch to give you more sustained damage, which we severely need (compare us to any other caster, it’s not even fair).
And for the love of god blizzard, please give us some sort of way to stop people from going into stealth and sapping us and our healer 25 times in a row. Dots doesn’t cut it since they can still easily get a sap in.
Playing shadow priest in 2v2 have been insanely unpleasant, and I have always loved 2v2.
only war / monk matchups are impossible to win in 2s, all other matchups are winnable. sure you have to play really good in order to win the average 2k players you’ll meet but well that’s how it is
this doesn’t matter at all since you should have a go and strong pressure every 45 secs or so.
choose wisely your targets. if the enemies are running away you can chase them or use shadow crash to keep them in combat. the only comp you can struggle to keep uptime on is RM. just target what you can hit and switch when necessary.
I don’t have issues winning 2v2 games but it can sometimes take a long time. You spend (multiple) minutes getting your head kicked in and doing very little damage then you suddenly win the game with a void eruption triple dp shadow crash during a stun/silence combo on the healer.
Driven to madness is a MUST for 2v2. It will give you 45 second void erruptions to line up with your cc.
Driven to madness not only reduces the CD on void erruption but also, crucially, reduces the interrupt lockout when you’re kicked casting void erruption. It effectively performs the function of itself and void origins if you are the focus of their dps.
A lot of noobs like yourself don’t know that yet because the tooltip doesn’t make it clear.
Spriest 2s is all about making big goes once a minute when you can line-up your stun/silence combo with whatever cc your healer has. You pool all your insanity to dump it when it cannot be dispelled. Between these goes your job is to survive, keep PWS up, spam purge and lure the enemy healer away from a pillar so they’re vulnerable to cc. That’s how it is.
what are you going to do with my main toon? rating bash me? honestly, calm down dude, these boards are here to help, there’s no need to be passive aggressive.
not really sure why a mage would want to play with a spriest instead of a rogue. on the more serious side, I haven’t seen any decent mage spriest comp in 2s since mists of pandaria. Like every comp it should work if you are REALLY good at the game and perfectly know your matchups but I wouldn’t count on it.
I’m unsure whether you PvP at all as shadow priest from what you’re saying.
It definately does matter if your dps is much lower than your opponent, since 2v2 can often go into dampening if people don’t want to risk anything.
And of course choose the targets wisely, and your shadow crash is not enough when every class has self healing.
no it doesn’t matter as any game going into dampening is definitely good for us since we have strong defensives to counter enemy goes. spriest healer is definitely a dampening comp even if you can win quite early if you setup properly and benefit from enemy misplays.
lol ok. what is this entitled mentality? I’ve been playing this comp on and off since a couple of extensions so I know how spriest healer works up to a decent level. Now if you think you’re playing at your best and the comp is the reason you are 1800 with 208 item level and a 220 weap there’s nothing I can do to help you, you’re obviously here to complain.
I already wrote a detailed post on how to climb in 2s as spriest and secure the wins against the comps you should not lose to. Last time I played was like 2 weeks ago and I was hovering around 2100 MMR, those tips and the other ones brought by other priests are still valid. Winning in 2s as spriest is basically following a game scheme and sticking to it. You can win every comp except warriors and monks because they can reliably stop your goes or deal too much damage to even last into dampening games.
