I started a shadow recently for a change of pace and I’m thus far disappointed by this class. After a couple of weeks of casual playing, he’s ilvl 450 (I know) and just seems to be a chew toy in bg’s, especially against melee classes.
PW:S is gone in a coupla hits, Greater Fade just delays the inevitable and Dispersion is vastly changed from what I remember it to be a couple of xpacs ago. Doesn’t heal as much, can be stunned while in it etc.
The few good spriests I’ve played against while on this DK char seem to be severely overgeared on checking armory afterwards and all stacking versa gear and corruptions, which basically involved facetanking me during the fight and baiting the interrupts.
While that might be a viable workaround to allow a ranged class to not fall over immediuately in a fight with melee, I’m confused where that leaves Shadow in the next xpac, when corruptions/azerite/neck powers all go away. Having played on both beta and the ptr, nothing has really changed, with the exception of DP providing some self healing. There’s literally no reliable way to create distance as Shadow that cannot be immediately countered by melee ten times over.
Is it a, “l2play” issue, or should I just roll a viable ranged class that has many tools to escape the melee wrecking train, such as mage?
Shadow has never been able to particularly reliably create distance, however the self healing gain (When it isn’t bugged) in SL is a massive return to form.
I say the same thing to every new SP, especially those in bgs. Reposition early, reposition often, and make a conscious effort to be “Effort” to engage for a melee DPS. People are fickle, especially in bgs, you dont need to be the furthest or the fastest or the most mobile, you just need to be slightly further or slightly faster than someone else.
Im sorry but you cannot be serious with that sentence.
For OP. Man you need better gear. Its bfa. For bg you should go for crit/haste with gush or stat amps instead of versa. You shouldnt need versa for bgs. You need to learn to not put yourself in any 1v X situation. Shadow just isnt a one on one class. Use your teammates as a meatshield and dont push without healer…positioning.
I dont wanna say its learn to play issue, i just feel like your playstyle needs to change or just switch class. Shadow can be very frustrating to play.
