I was wondering how much scope there is for shadow priests and the type of magic wielders they are. I love the idea of the original idea behind them, that they were just dark casters.
Obviously in the last few years we have seen the development of the class lean more toward Void/Old God influence but I personally find the original theme of the spec more appealing - dark magic users who have ‘‘fallen from the grace of the light’’ so to speak.
With the reintroduction of Devouring Plague (more of a dark magic theme than a Void one) I was wondering what your thoughts are on this and how you make it work (and which you prefer) for your character and the idea of a shadow priest. I personally have trouble connecting with all the void stuff.
As you said, I’ve always looked as Shadow as an evil priest/fallen from the light/Dark Cleric.
I remember during Cataclysm when we used Shadow Orbs as a resource, and we could have dark ravens fly around us. I want to go back to that kinda theme.
The “voidiness” has always felt more like a warlock thing.
I agree, I think the Void thing was a great idea on paper but as I have played it more and more I have found that it doesn’t fit with my idea of what a Shadow priest is. I much prefer the idea of a moody, evil caster than a borderline insane void servant who hears voices.
agreed… I’d buy a 2 year sub if they Pushed Shadows theme back to this.
i disagree, void was never good on paper, i think void was more a case of blizzard trying to fix something they have a problem with not the playerbase.
Shadow never needed its Identity Messed with, in catacylsm it 100% nailed Shadow Identity… and i feel like the better direction was to bring Cata shadow back in WoD and keeping that flow… not this Whole void… it all felt alittle too forced.
