Shadow rework?

Second round of class tuning and no shadow at them, only some pvp crumbles

Maybe its time for dev team to sit down all together and think, what they really want from sp as a class, cause now its all insanely similar with that red chair meme

We have bad st, even aug can do better damage at st, we have mediocre aoe in pack and only at spread cleave we can do the job

None of “new” ideas is actually working, shadeburst was good step, but seems we need to rework class at similar way and make clear, what we want sp to make damage: with dots or make it another caster-like class?

We have so much mechs atm, but sp still looks like crap from 2009, nothing really interesting from mechanic side of class was added, and what was added was ruined and graved on ptr

Maybe its time for completely revamp? Not just another 345th time of PL nerf/nuff by 5%

Take a shot every time they rework sp

We’re on the second round of tuning and Shadow is still stuck in the same awkward middle ground it’s been in for years. No clear identity, just another round of small percentage tweaks while the real problems stay untouched. The red chair meme is getting more accurate every season.

The damage profile is just not competitive enough:

  • Single target is genuinely weak compared to most other pure DPS specs.

  • Pack AoE is mediocre at best.

  • The only place we actually look decent is spread cleave, and even that feels more like a niche than a proper strength.

Even the hero talents feel backwards. Why isn’t Archon the stronger AoE/spread option and Voidweaver the clearer single-target choice? Right now their identities overlap too much and neither fully commits to a role, which just adds to the lack of direction.

Shadeburst was a step in the right direction on paper, but like most of the recent additions it either underperforms or gets diluted on PTR. We have plenty of mechanics and moving parts, yet the gameplay still feels dated and uninspired. Nothing really interesting has stuck around long enough to change how the class feels to play.

The core issue is that the design team still hasn’t decided what they actually want Shadow to be. Do they want a DoT-focused multi-target specialist, or something closer to a modern caster with clearer burst windows? Right now we’re stuck doing neither particularly well. Another 5% tuning pass isn’t going to fix that.

And while this is mostly a PvE complaint, the PvP side isn’t exactly thriving either. A few crumbs here and there, but we’re still a single-school caster with limited dispel protection in a very melee-oriented environment. It doesn’t feel like the class is getting real attention in either direction.

At this point a proper rework (or at least a clear design vision) feels more necessary than yet another minor numbers adjustment. The current version just isn’t fun or strong enough for the amount of effort the rotation actually requires.

Honestly if they just revert the massive Void Volley nerf they did shortly before patch launch and maybe reduced our CD’s by 25-50%, then we’d actually be in a good place

The only things that really need a rework is the left side of the tree and the SW:D talents. Otherwise it’s just bad talent positioning and a few choice nodes that might as well get a choice removed

This, i to this day can’t grasp the concept of 2 Minutes CD while almost everyone else has 1.5 Min or even less, for essentially the same % gain in Damage.

And it’s even weirder considering that VF is the weakest burst of them all. And I can’t believe that I’m saying this, but shadow has finally reached the point where Legion VF would actually feel good because of our dot spread
