As a rank 2 Resto shaman in Legion(Played M+ for pushing when it was fresh) i can admit that every statement you made about weaknesses is right.To work better in M+ Rsham got somehow to get AOE dmg(i would like if we get Magma totem which we can put anywhere as our AOE spell) and we need kind of external cd for tank or something like the trait for riptide but even bigger shield if the target is below 50% hp(for example if i riptide the target it willl make % of his hp as additional shield and not just some low number as now,even with stacking 3 traits for it).Something like 25% shield of his total HP i think or something like this.

Why AoE? Right now we are doing decent single target. Why not double down on that and give use hard hitting Lava Bursts and longer Flame Shock duration?
Yus. Maybe give Earth Shield a reduction to dmg taken or something that transforms 3 charges into an absorb.
The problem here is that sometimes the targeted player is above 50% and gets oneshot then. If we get something it needs to save people at any health percentage.
We need some type of AOE spell that does instant dmg and consistant to be even close to competitive to other healers,single target is not enough because we got to stop healing to deal this single target dmg.If you want to push very high with Rsham you got to be able to dps on groups of mobs not only on 3-4 bosses.About external cd i would like to be a bit different than other classes externals which are just same things but copies from each other
But why? If you end the dungeon with 10k average single target dps, it’s equivalent to some other healer ending with 10k average dps, but with AoE inbetween.
Yes, there has to be a draw back, right? A druid has to stop casting spells in order to do dmg as cat aswell, right? If Flame Shock’s duration was like 30 seconds or so you wouldn’t even spend that many globals on keeping it up on different targets.
Yes, we really need something that saves people from dying frequently. We and many others agree on that.
The thing is that if people do AOE dmg and got spells to do it,they dont end with 10k but alot more,Druid is going in cat form for extra dmg while his hots are ticking as crazy and healing,even if he is not going in cat he dot whole group of mobs by just clicking once so you are wrong there…
And you cant push our lava burst dmg into the sky because of pvp and raid reasons. That needs to be balanced too. Correct me if i am wrong but havent Disc priests got the shadow aoe mindflay?

External deff cd: Replaces the surge of crap Talent: The shaman shares his health with a friendly targeted group member. So you basically double your health or the targeted. Works like link in mini and lasts 6-8 sek. After sharing both obviously end up with 50% of the remaining health.
Would be unique and not to strong.
For aoe: Bring back the old downpour and let the second tick deal aoe dmg. Or the mentioned magma totem.
Other good addition would be the totem which a npc uses in sl. It pulls all enemys within 20 yards on the totem. Like ring of peace the other way around.

The number was hypothetical. What I meant to say is that we don’t specifically need AoE dmg. We just need any form of dmg or something that enables others to deal dmg.
Then they could buff Healing Stream Totem to do crazy amounts of tank healing and we could dps freely. You didn’t explain at all why we need passive dmg and not passive healing instead when both would solve the issue. And as I said above, why do we need dmg when they could give us something that increases dmg of others? Don’t get me wrong, I love pumping dps as healer… But you gotta explain why your idea is the solution in your opinion.

Yes, you can. Many abilties do different amounts of dps in pvp than they do in pve. They started adding scaling of abilities back in Mists of Pandaria iirc. What ‘raid reasons’ could they have to limit resto dps? I don’t do much raiding unlike you, thus I might need an explanation.

I like the idea of replacing the talent with an earth shield external, but I don’t understand this proposition at all. When you say share, how does this double anyones health? If it works like link, it will just equalize the health % every tick. But then why do both end up at 50% hp?

Expecting changes without discussing what’s working and what isn’t, doesn’t seem feasible to me. I don’t know what you are doing IRL, but imagine being a Dev and reading through hundreds of posts with thousands of propositions, most of them being completely different (maybe that’s why they don’t do that). The community needs to find and clarify the problems of the spec and leave room for the dev to find a solution. If Rezz, for example, could persuade me, you and maybe some others that take the discussion to streams, class discords etc., the issue he sees might be heard by a dev who then proceeds to fix it sooner or later.
There are several issues Rshams have and we kinda feel left out. Highlighting issues is exhausting now.
Finally getting Earthshield baseline. This wouldn’t have broken the game, it’s an easy fix, should have had it YEARS ago. People were screaming for this, you don’t see it much nowadays (before the announcement).
Flameshock CD feels ugly, having 1 riptide feels awful. Shamans need to play faster. Lowering our CD’s would be nice in favour of nerfing them slightly, this would be nice. Ascendance is an old, outdated ability and shouldn’t be a 3 min. Bring back Ancestral Guidance, this would be nice because currently it feels like a lot of effort for soo little to dps as an rsham. With the corruptions it’s not so bad, but when we lose those corruptions it’ll be back to bleh.
These are the common issues that people report a lot. Most are just moving on now from the class now.
We kinda have a history of getting a new ability with a huge BUT at the end of it. “You finally get a CC Hex! But, they can move around and still able to cast some abilities and it has a long CD”
People are expecting Mind Sear to be buffed because it isn’t that strong on Disc Priest at the moment. But, why aren’t people complaining about how Chain Lightning hits like a noodle and should be buffed? It’s got a cast bar and the damage falls off with each hit, and it’s limited to a few targets, big oof.

I don’t know, since riptide is doing basically nothing, it doesn’t even matter that much. Would just be used for the buff anyways.
Initial heal and hot is very weak
With 3x IP Lava Burst is the only thing we cast that deals noticeable dmg. While Riptide is weak, it gives us Tidal Waves. That they reduced Tidal Waves charges to 1 per Riptide cast while keeping Riptide at one charge baseline irritates me.
I wish it could at least serve as a tool to save people from the brink of death. Like have it’s direct heal increased by a bit or at least make it scale twice with mastery?!

Depends on tuning i guess. Chain harvest does rediculous dmg and solid healing while primordial wave brings very good healing with zero dmg compared to chain harvest. The necrolord basic ability with dmg reductions seems crazy good too.
Problem now is that if for example the dmg of chain harvest get nerfed it will be no longer good.
My bets for m+ are on Venthyr over Necrolord if chain harvest wont get nerfed. Necrolord could be interesting too but mostly for the basic ability or perhaps in spread raid encounters. Primordial wave with 3 or 4 riptides stacked into HST(legendary) into healing wave is way to slow in high m+ for my oppinion. Sure its efficient and like i said crazy for raids but in m+ i dont see enough time to abuse the strenght outside of fights like 3rd ToS or Witches in waycrest. Most of the time i could also play the iconic unleash life chainheal combo to gain the same effect but a way faster.
Anyway. Tuning will decide the go to covernant. But because of healing wave being way stronger than surge now haste could become more powerfull which is a two edged sword. Haste will provide more dmg than crit while we need crit for raids.
I see crit > vers = haste for m+ and crit > vers = mastery for raids being the way to go. While vers becomes more powerfull the higher the key goes.
Exactly why i will go with necro. Primordial wave dmg or healing isnt that important because its more important that “riptide/flameshock and hw heals all target affected by riptide part”
Also arena seems benefit more from necro(immune to cc and small group)
But i hate necrolord zone so much idk if i choose it since its so boring and dark.

Bastion covenant seems safest (More interesting) and best. Not sure if they have taken the totem off GCD yet, but it felt clunky putting it into a rotation. The potion that allows you to cleanse diseases/ poisons etc… is also very nice!
Bastion is safe yes but somewhat clunky. I mean the pot which removes disease is obviously okay and the totem is solid
Necrolord is very good with its dmg reduction cd for yourself and and super good in efficient healing or spread healing or overall hps fights.
Venthyr is good mobility which (correct me if im wrong) should be able to dodge/cheese some mechanics? Chain Harvest is super super good dmg atm and solid healing. I mean on beta some people let one chain harvest crit for 10k which is huge. It can jump 5 times so crit up to 50k. I expect a dmg nerf tbh but we will see.
I’ll look into the covenants when we get closer to release and they are more tuned i guess. Thanks for your input
