When Ascendance was put on the GCD, Restoration got a nice benefitial effect with it, so it didn’t feel too bad to press it. Elemental and Enhancement both didn’t get such an effect. Now it feels really bad to press that cooldown and nothing really “happens” until you press another ability.
If they want to improve the flow of Ascendance in Shadowlands, they have 2 main options:
- They either remove the GCD of Ascendance for Elemental and Enhancement (maybe Restoration as well, if they want to have it in line with the other two specs. Then they probably should remove the AOE burst healing it brings on activation);
- They add an on-activation effect to Ascendance for the two dps specs, something along the lines of “Deals a burst of Fire (Elemental) / Wind (Enhancement) damage to all enemies within 40 (?) yards (that you’re in combat with)”.
Either one of these options will make the flow of Ascendance so much better and make it feel not as bad to press it.
If anyone has other ideas, please feel free to share. I just want Shamans to play the best they can in Shadowlands
(I posted this on the Pre-patch PTR forums as well, since I wasn’t sure where to put the feedback, feel free to delete either this one or the other one if one of those is redundant)
