Shadowlands BG ilvl bracket

Now that there is no longer ilvl scaling, we desperately need own brackets for ilvl in random bgs. Please!
There is no way being viable with low gear, and it makes this waiting period for the expansion release unbearable. It will also make it impossible to play pvp with alts.

Ilvl brackets would make bgs viable and fun to casual players.

I wouldn’t mind a scaling like the one in Legion.

Sick to death of forced losses and the occasional free win because half my team (or enemy team) have 10-14k hp vs an entire team of 20k+

It was bad enough already playing the lottery of joining bgs that are almost over or back filling a gy farm, now with this it’s just complete frustration.

Why does LFR require X ilvl to join but the second you hit level 50 you can join a BG where player contribution actually matters and force your team to play with 1 less person?

I just want to join a bg and have fun, i can’t have fun when it’s just absolute stomps on both sides because half a team are the equivalent of level 30’s every game.

Is this some petty form of spite because we kept asking for pvp vendors and removal of pvp scaling?

Inb4 all the elitists jumping to say that gear should matter and people that have invested more hours in the game should crush the “lazy” players that have a life in a non competitive environment without little to no skill being involved.

I feel like the majority of those people mean to say “Gear should make me automatically win”.

That’s usually what I read between the lines too.

Coz before LFR u have another brackets to farm gear thru PvE. PvP starts at random BG, so its impossible to add gear req.

U can’t gear in bgs to start with, it’s just to low gear compared to pve

I dont know why the vendor insists on giving out 8.0 gear when we were in 8.3

68 ilvl but the first crap that drops from the boxes you get in bgs is 82.

Chuck on top of that but every previous xpac you can buy gladiator pieces for marks of honor
Now were in 9.0 the vendor should be dishing out those pieces at 90 something ilvl.

Its still lower than the catch up gear which requires dailies to get a set of, but jumps people from 8k hp to about 16 it would definitely help.

Yes. There are multiple levels of dungeons for all kinds of levels and item levels, but only one casual BG, and that was just ruined by the prepatch.

Why is it that the changes are never complete? Want to remove ‘scaling’ completely, FINE. But give us something that will BALANCE that change, for crying out loud.

Let the gearnuts stomp lowbies as much as they want in one BG system, but give lowbies a chance to fight only other lowbies in ANOTHER BG system. That would be fair for all, I think.

But they only hear one side of the story and make THAT change, without thinking how it would affect the OTHER side of things, the casual players that just want fun BGs without having to dedicate 5 months of their life just so they can punch some warrior in a BG and actually make a dent.

There HAS to be 200 different solutions to this really stupid problem - the question is, why aren’t they implementing ANY of them, but just making BG balance worse every time they change something?

It won’t help, people will get lower q pops, and tryhards premades will q for low ilvl PvP with legendaries and low ilvl items with proper stats, using flask, food and other boost. Still dominating, still killing people in 3-4 seconds. Still whine, still cry.
Its the same as low lvl BG-s - premades easily can find gear and other advantage and dominating AFK scrubs, giggle and do movies.

Me too, stop these pre made domination matches as well.
Gear should only matter in Pve imo.

No. Most people had fun and played bg’s when there was no scaling. I remember the days of wotlk/cata/mop and pvp was thriving. Just because you are too lazy to farm some gear before doing pvp, and expecting to have fun without putting any time into the game you are wrong. WoW was and will always be a game were invested time gets you more stronger and better than someone who only played a few weeks.

This is the whole point of an MMORPG and if you don’t like it go play some single player game and fight against NPCs or play some FPS game if you want quick balanced pvp fights.

Also the lowbies that get ganked and one shotted want to do the same in the future too, thus motivating them to get better gear and staying engaged with the game. WoW is not a moba nor an FPS where skill>all, and it shouldn’t be.

This change has to be one of the best Blizzard made going into Shadowlands.**** scaling.

Play a moba.

It isn’t elitism, it’s a simple reality. Gear should matter in a progressive MMORPG.

Dungeon gear shouldn’t be better than PVP gear, but gear should still matter. Every MMO that has a gearless system sucks.

If you say so then it must be a fact.

Did they remove ilvl scaling in bgs or just character level scaling in world PVP?

Name one that’s good, or one that is anywhere near WoW’s level for that matter.

Can you play with templates and be successful at pvp? What is it that is so important for you about gear in a battleground that you think everyone having the same ilvl and letting skill play the bigger part will break the game for you? Of all the possible reasons and design aspects that other MMO’s can’t compete with WoW the fact that they may not have meaningful gear progression in some aspects of the game isn’t what makes them inferior, that’s just what you chose to use as an argument to justify gear progression in pvp. Don’t bother replying I know the answer. It’s cool, you can have your crutch. Best wishes.

Define successful?

I played with templates and found myself de-motivated. As if my character meant absolutely nothing. I might as we have been playing a moba.

Because this is an MMORPG. A key point of MMORPGs is character progression; having something to work towards.

Again; name an MMORPG with templates/ no gear progression that is anywhere close to WoW.

And you can play a moba.

This is the fruit of a new kiddie generational thing, the treadmill argument doesn’t really assist mature people. In a few years we might think alike. Your character does have meaning, it’s your avatar and has spells and buttons you can push, his ilvl should be beside the point, then again ilvl is mostly an invention by devs to get children hooked up like a candy.

Another key point of a MMORPG is actually playing the game, some people like slaying dragons and hoarding gear and some people like to queue up for BG’s and kill players, who would have guessed that my friend
I don’t need to have to care about gear when I can play this MMORPG and just spam queue BG’s 24/7. See? I can have fun with my meaningful character without getting any satisfaction from getting a new upgrade like a carrot on a stick, I’m older and wiser now and don’t need such stimulation other than the thrill of killing my enemies.

I do understand your reasoning though, I have met players that get bored of the game once their carrot is no longer on the stick, just like people on some shooters that get bored once they finish collecting all the weapons when the game is actually about shooting other players and not about collecting gear
same principle can be applied here regardless of being an MMORPG. Again this is a psychological effect that affect people like you but doesn’t affect every player.

I can’t even name an MMO with gear progression that is up to par with Wow so let alone without. Progression, or the lack of is really not the reason why WoW is any better than any other MMO out there.

I prefer playing WoW, thanks for the suggestion anyway, I’ll keep that in mind for when WoW pvp becomes dead few months into the new expansion.

Anyway we both have different opinions and we both have played our arguments, anything else besides this point will be pointless and serve no further purpose on this discussion so I’ll end it here from my perspective.
