Shadowlands Flying

Don’t get me wrong I am a huge fan of flying in general however apart from Revendreth and maybe The Maw, all zones are small and it’s quick to get to anywhere in them. And other zones are meant to be different realms so don’t see flying between them a possibility.

Is there actually any reason to have flying in this expansion with the current state of the landscape?

Thoughts?

I was in agreement not long ago. I don’t even mind the Maw with no mount. However, now all that I have left to do is WQs for anima, I could really do with flying. It would make it a lot faster and I’d do more characters.

Don’t see this would be the case, would make covenant transport system completely redundant.

The zones are not that big that’s true, and flying doesn’t feel necessary right now, but i still prefer doing stuff while flying. At least then i don’t have to avoid tons of mobs, its still faster and i just prefer looking at the zones from the sky.

And of course my favourite mounts look stupid when they are not flying.

Yeah that’s true, not pulling aggro every 2 mins can speed it up considerably.

100% agree about the flying mounts being grounded situation as well, nothing like Ashes only being able to hover above the ground!

I miss flying. There’s no real sense of wonder in WoW any more. Especially travelling. And the most annoying thing is that instead of flight paths and travel being good enough to not need flying, they’re actually worse than the last two expansions.

More places where a flight path WOULD BE is taken up by some soulless, filler Covenant transport network that doesn’t even need to exist (or wouldn’t if the flight paths were there for all players.

it’s another step backwards—just like having to manually accept Emmisary/Covenenat dailies. What a faff. I don’t know if the designer behind that change is stupid or malicious in their actions, but what a stupid, backwards design decision. Ugh.

The only 2 expansions where i liked being forced to ground mount and then eventually get flying are Wotlk and MoP.

I don’t like these tiny zones that are essentially just like “haha heres a hill, can’t climb up! YOU HAVE TO RUN AROUND IT!”

It’s like the zones are made inconvenient for the inconvenience sake.
Which defeats the purpose imo.
It should be like “Woow what a cool place.” and then explore it and then be like “i’ve now finnished the zones, now i get flying.”

But instead its just making ppl butthurt and pissing them off and then its like “finally blizz, you added the damn flying.”

I so wish they’d do with flying like Square does for FF14. Once you’ve explored a zone entirely, found all the hidden “currents” and done all the necessary quests (including the main scenario), you’re done and can fly in that zone.

Blizzard on the other hand is now so incredibly stubborn about traversing their world, that they even made an entire zone being enforced into running around. After 16 years of WoW and having ground mount, they suddenly insist even that should be gone. What type of idiotic decisions is that?

I hope they bring out flying soon, and remove that idiocy of restricting ground mounts in the Maw for what ever obscure reason they have. Right now it’s a lot better to just sit in the covenant hall or Oribos, rather than having to travers a world build specifically to slow you down as much as possible.

I think there is, and that is the world that scales with you. Please, for God’s sake… Let me go where I want without praying the mobs reset and being upset that one of my characters is not a Night Elf.

It won’t, using the covenant transport will still be quicker than flying.
Flying will be quicker to points where the transport doesn’t go, & in other covenant zones.

Indeed
Especially Ardenweald’s WB… that area is filled with nasty elites with root, daze and everything a sadist mind could think of to make your journey to the WB misrable…
And every zone have its own “hard place”, while I farmed my back blades from the Forgmaster, navigating Dominance keep in Revendreth was a nightmare (camuflage and feinth death helps, but still… not even dare to immagine the classes without these tricks)

Thats true
The mirror network is pretty well placed in Revendreth
However, the covenant transportation is only one zone… there are three others

Covenant transport network is a way to make new “content” out of nothing. Redundant, filler and uninspired stuff.

Expanding the transportation network to lead to other realms would be nice tho
Would save a tons of time from home realm-Oribos-destination relam fly path…
Instant traell to said realm of the Shadowlands would be a real QL feature!

will the SL flying be account wide even ?

Well you aren’t forced into flying. I never understood why do some people have the feeling they have to tell what others want.
Yes, there is a reason to have flying, which is the mob density and the amount of mountains in every zones. The only reason I can’t say that SL zones are the worst in mob density aspect is because I experienced Argus which was hell.

Yes you are forced into flying.

Because? You magically can’t equip a ground mount anymore? The mobs start to fly away from you?

Becouse flying is too covinient to pass on. Its not even close to choice. Its like your boss asking you to do 8h of work for 20 dollar or do 20 minutes for work for 20 dollars lol. Flying is not choice once its avaible. You use it or you are stupid.

With your stupid logic Blizzard can also give everyone full mythic raid sets and say hey if you dont like having full set on get to just dont use it.

I can’t wait to have flying. Bastion is awful, the flight paths are just plain bad. I’m not a huge fan of Ardenweald either. Maldraxxus is probably the best in terms of being fairly flat and good flightpath network. I also find Revendreth has an excellent flight path network and lifts/horses/carriages/bats to get you about. However I would still like to be able to fly in all the zones.

I can wait to have flying, I’d like a flight whistle for sure asap but flying, I can cope without it for a while longer. I worry that the pathfinder route this time will be worse than the expansions before :(. Esp as I have yet to take one covenant on an alt, as I really loathe Maldraxxus
