New thread about old issue.
I got my main through the intro and it was mildly interesting.
I got an alt through the intro and it was boring because half the time you just sit around waiting for the roleplay to end.
Now I have my 2nd alt sitting in Icecrown and I just tried again but it only took me barely a second before I alt-f4’ed out again because trying to carry the first shard to its designated position was already boring my mind to slush.
I heard this story before. Where is this option?

I thought it was stupid the first time I played it. It felt cringe to watch Darion fangirl about Jaina so much.
I’m not a fan of roleplays or voice actor quest line. I can spend the whole day levelling in Classic but in Shadowlands I will log out after 10 mins of forcing myself to get a few quests done.
I don’t know why Blizzard thinks they’re being cool or innovative. It’s the most boring kind of content you could add to an MMORPG.

I think it was a decent try at better storytelling while playing (writing still being a bit underwhelming).
I did my 8th character through the maw yesterday and tbh I was already sick and tired of it after the 3rd time (haven’t even run this one through it). It’s too much of an on-rail experience to force people through without an option. And sadly I haven’t even heard them acknowledge this problem or talk about a skip.
I don’t want them to remove it because maybe in a year or two I feel like going through it again (like I do with other older expansions) but a skip should be in place from the beginning. One that unlocks after you go through it once.
It always baffles me that they don’t learn or are unwilling to, while they should have enough experience from former expansions.
Yeah I don’t believe it was particularly bad. And I can understand the choice of putting Jaina as sort of the main character in that ‘scenario’ Alliance must be pretty tired of wow being about Sylvanas for ages now, even Horde is tired of her!
But instead of letting us be able to skip this roleplay fangirl Disney princess thing they let is skip questing in SL on alts.
Why can’t we just have both?

After first go there SHOULD be the “I’ve heard this story before” skip option.
Moving the helm parts was annoying the first time and the story bits after are boring.

In beta you could use speed-up abilities/spells but they disabled that on release.
I always saw that as a move purely to waste your time.

Its a literal wow hell, we are trying to save your cowboy partner and i am not even horde, surely you can fight with sword. And etc.

My DK has been sitting at the start of the maw intro with Darion since Love Is In The Air started 
I just cba to do it again atm.
Ye same as my druid. Can’t move the shards in cat form so nevermind.
Tried Pandaren pet battles with another character, all of it gives 38.51% of a level on fresh lvl 50 toon so not really worth it but still more exp than doing nothing hehe.

Thankfully I have completed the intro on all of my alts…except for the mechagnome I have sitting at 20
I’m a roleplayer and:
- Why do people call NPCs talking “RP”? I’m not doing any RP if I’m standing there with something that can’t talk back to me.
- It’s still boring after your whichever time through.
Exactly. It is not engaging because NPCs we cannot interact with are roleplaying among themselves almost completely ignoring the PC.
Let us skip it on alts or at least make it rewarding: add gear rewards to quests so your ilvl 50 alt walks out of the intro in set of ilvl 90 gear and few renown tokens to spend when choosing covenant. Add some rares and treasures there for extra grabs. Or why not do both: option to skip AND have it be rewarding for those who choose to go through it.

Ah yes, that quest took me just about a week to complete alone on this monk.
1 shard and have a break. So monotonous.
I have already done the intro on 25 alts… Even if I could skip it on a single alt it would be a very welcome change. This and bloody flying.
It’s not too bad and gets you to level 51, I have no real complaints.
The maw intro alone made me not leveling any alts. The ibtro questline is just a big rp cringe.
