"Shadowlands is alt friendly" - no

I was thinking about a level 50 boost and then I realized there’s absolutely nothing I can do to catch up if I start from scratch right now.

No, I don’t mean Torgasts, how boring they are, the weeks of Legendaries grinding and tens of hours spent there. I mean even if you somehow manage to get quick 60, it wouldn’t matter. You wouldn’t stand any chance anywhere. PvP, PvE, doesn’t matter.

The best you could do would be farm Dungeons and farm Battlegrounds, but that won’t get you anywhere past item level 200, which as of LAST week was “already way too low and way too behind”. Imagine if you pop up in Arena 2 weeks from now, all level 197-200 or whatnot  You and your mighty 30,000 health  With some 20-22% Versatility  Even last week I saw WW Monks on 40k+ hp with 30% Versatility, saw a Warlock today with 54k health (sure, in a BG, but still)

And even if you, the game is based on a weekly progress. Weekly Vault drop. If you miss the weekly Vault drop, there’s no catching up.

Torgast is based on a weekly progress. Weekly Soul Ash drop. If you miss your weekly Soul Ash grind, as boring as it is, there’s no catching up.

From PvE point of you, do you have ANY chance as well, really? I mean, you COULD re-roll into some meta class, roll with a meta spec… Would it be enough though? People run Raids and Mythics every week, some weeks not even getting a single item drop, some weeks getting a drop they don’t have any use from…

No, I don’t think that Shadowlands is alt friendly. But tell me, is any of you thinking about another character and have you considered any of the things I mention above?

Blizzard will implement renown catch up mechanic in few months to “please us”. I want to play my rogue but when I think about doing campaign again (the same covenant as my mage too…) and then renown farm it’s just not worth it. Gear isnt an issue, legendaries arent an issue but renown catch up to unlock conduits and whatnot sucks.

Oh and maw rep should be account wide too. At least make venari items account bound.

Tbh I started this shaman last weekend, the renown catch-up is fast.

(Renown 26 atm)

Catch up is really fast tbh, got two chrs on 26 at moment, alt is there within a week or two.

I have 10 max level characters, this druid at 210 ilevel, my VDH at 207, rest between 165-190-ish. If I wanted to switch either of my mains to one of my alts, I could: catching up on renown and campaign progress is a non-issue. I’ve been running lower layers of Torghast on them, so I can craft at least an R2 legendary on all of them.

As for gear? I’ll ask my guild, the communities I’m in, or my friend list if they have any similarly geared alts, and run keys. I’ll be able to switch to that alt in a month tops, well before the current season ends.

Alt friendly doesn’t mean you can catch up within a week or less from zero, that you don’t need to put effort in. It means you can keep alts along with your main at power levels where you can decide to push harder, and even promote that alt to a main.

In BfA, I had trouble keeping my main up to date on power progress. In SL, I can keep two mains at similar power levels, with less time spent, and I can - and do - have a horde of alts at various states, so if I want to switch at any point, I can.

shadowlands is alt friendly. nothing is stopping you from getting renown at 60, you can spam mythics, you can do bgs for pvp gear all tho it takes way too long to grind decent ilvl from pvp from 0

As far as renown goes, it’s a gift to catchup.

My rogue started last reset at 1 renown after finishing one of the threads of fate bars, finished up before yesterdays reset at 23, then the world boss caught me up to 24, alongside my other two chars. That was semi-passively too.

If Anima wasn’t so stingey the gear catchup would be perfect as well.

Playing alt =/= catch up to your main character or players what has been playing from begginging if expansion. I see constanly people say alt. What players like you actualy mean is another main and you want for this char get instantly everthing your first character have.

Alt is just alt. Char whar you play to spice up game no to rival your main character.

No i mean an alt, this is my main and I have two alts.

Edit…also have an Alliance main on 60 doing catch up.

I personally think its alt friendly enough…id love acc wide layers though. Howevee, by alt friendly I mean you can gear an alt fairly quick. Not enough to replace your main in a fortnight though.

To many people think alt and think main replacement. Not alternative character to freshen things up. They think new main…

No as mentioned above, alts, not other main, alts.

It’s not so alt friendly for pvpers gearing through pvp atm. There were expansions better at this. I do believe it’ll get better with time though and I will be able to enjoy my alts just like about always. Just focus on your main for now :slightly_smiling_face: You can also play alts in lower lvl bracket if you absolutely wanna play different classes at the same time.

Biggest reason it’s not alt friendly is that the expansion content offers no real replayability. Most of it isn’t v good so why bother playing through multiple times.

It’s not so much that you can’t catch up, more like why bother doing so.

No he doesnt and stop saying this lie in every thread you post in on every alt you post on . Teling others not to play alts yet you post on 6 different max level chars yourself .

Get in a guild and you won’t have any problems in pve.

This already exists but okey. You get renown from literally doing anything.

Well, let me put it this way… I don’t think it’s alt friendly, because of how toxic the community is in general. Undergeared people are most definitely NOT welcome ANYWHERE. Nobody’s gonna take you in a RBG, Arena, Mythic or Raid. I’ve been rejected on 2 non-meta characters so far, consistently, in all content.

The only thing giving me “chances” at the moment is that I’m finally over item level 200 and barely on the 25% Versatility “mental mark”, though it’s still well below 29%+, which is the case for most players. Still, it’s a nighmare even trying to do RBGs for the sake of a weekly quest, always queueing for hours. And despite the fact that I never blame the people I play with in Arenas, we usually get to the ‘let me add you’ type of thing and then rarely ever play again.

Also, Guild or not, people pushing 2k or 2.2k, or 2.4k, or pushing M15+ don’t bother with 1k to 1.4k players, neither they bother with M4’s and M5’s. “Cause you can pug those, not that hard, said the Boomie”

Anyway, that’s just my experience and the thing preventing me from even thinking about another character :expressionless:

Where did i say to others to not play alts?

Another one of these threads where people confuse alt friendly as “free gear for no work”.

What would you do on your main all week if a fresh 60 can instantly gear up?

Erm, I looked for it for fun and this is something you once replied to me:

“Mmos are not supostu be palyed on multiple characters.”

Lol.

So yeah you absolutely do say troll-ey things like that to ppl, mate. Not even mentioning the creative spelling.
