I have a question if someone can answer about the creation of legendary items in Shadowlands. From what I see on videos in beta there are 4 ranks on a legendary item. I was wandering if someone could create the rank 4 legendary item from the beginning, if he has the mats, or does he have to create rank 1 and then upgrade it to rank 2, rank 3 and then rank 4 ?
No because you need soul ash for them. You can create the base item(last i checked it would cost ~1 million gold just for vendor bought mats), but you can’t create the actual legendary, because the soul ash is time gated.
You need soul ash and you get that from Torghast. You can only earn a certain amount per week.
That question wasn’t so legendary!
What you probably want to know whether you waste resources if you craft Rank 1 first and then upgrade to Rank 4.
You don’t waste Soul Ash. The amount of required is the same whether you do it by upgrading or not.
You do waste whatever you use to get the base item each time though. Which could potentially be a lot of gold value.

Seems it’s more close to ~100k. Apparently they changed the vendor price of orboreal shard from 1k to 125 gold.
