[Shadowlands Spoilers] [H] Sand Troll Skin Tone

Considering we are getting a sand troll skin tone, what are your thoughts on them? How would you explain a playable Sand Troll? Are RP guilds finally allowing sand trolls in Orgrimmar? Do you think the Zandalari Empire has a hand in it? Give me your thoughts!

I quite like them actually.

Troll is troll

I doubt it

Most likely

Wowhead suggested Blood Troll styles would be possible. That’s bound to be a lot more controversial than some Sand Trolls!

Wowhead was being silly, because all we’ve seen is red bodypaint. That does nothing to suggest the white skin tone of blood trolls.

Unless the lore of Shadowlands says that new troll tribes are joining the Horde, I’m going to assume that all of the cosmetic additions for Horde trolls are meant to represent trolls that are already a part of the Horde in one form or another.

Only under the guiding eye of two certified Zandalari handlers : )

(but yeah go with what Taxation and coffee said)

idk why do you even assume that every sand troll was/is supposed to be hostile to the horde/a part of such a tribe

[ok]

burn 'em rp guilds

I’m not keen, really.
I’d rather more attention be given to the Darkspear tribe properly, not just in how they relate to all the other tribes. I’d also hoped the new troll customisations might have brought more people RPing trolls to the best tribe, but now it’s looking like we’ll be losing even more of them.

For how they fit in Horde
if they’re aligned to Darkspear or Zandalari guilds or people, then that seems like a means to be involved. Accepting your troll mightn’t be popular or respected comes with that as well.
Truthfully, if you want to be a troll aligned to the Horde, deeply involved in its policy and culture, free to roam Orgrimmar without scorn or question, and not reliant on the goodwill or allegiance of other trolls
 be a Darkspear.

I hope we do get it, because I think the pale white skin and brightly colored markings look amazing.

I guess what really distinguishes Blood Trolls is the black eyes though, since some Blood Trolls have more sandy skin tones, so maybe we could just get the pale skin and not the eyes? I’d be okay with that.

Sand trolls and the like are one thing, they have a way in via the Zandalari.

Blood trolls are insane, murderous zealots and enemies of all other trolls (and Azeroth at large). They should not be playable.

And slightly longer pointier fingers and toes.

I mean, look at their toes, they’re longer and more pointy than a regular trolls, same with their fingers.

Not a great fan of the idea, not out of any inherent “oh noes a sand troll” - it’s actually an opportunity to create a sand troll guild out in the sandy wastes if people wanted to, bring more life to dead areas.

Nor do I particular care if non-horde troll races are in org, like I’m sure people who do that can think of viable reasons as to why they would be there. A Horde spy that turned reporting in, a rejected tribe member that found a home in the Horde etc. It’s not difficult. And the notion that a character could be ‘barred’ from orgrimmar by guilds is just silly. Only as much power as given and all that.

No my issue with it leans more towards what Watrus expressed - it’s potentially less focus on the Darkspear who, imo anyway, are by far the most interesting and invested tribe.

I believe sand trolls would be okay if they are part of a Horde based guild, specifically a Horde military guild IC.

They are conscripts or something like that and the guilds are responsible for them.

Keep in mind sand trolls are hostile in the Horde’s view so of course they won’t fit in so easily or ever.

Can’t the Sandfury tribe join the Horde already. ;_;

We could be able to have a repaired Zul’Farrak with vendors etc and all that.
It’d be Amazing
same with the Gurubashi and getting Zul’Gurub.

The lesser tribes suck up to the Zandalari. If they act out, just get a nod from one of them, and kill the Sand Troll. Or kill the sand troll and explain the situation, I’m sure the Zandalari won’t mind.
Zandalar forever.

Pretty much.

I mean, there’s a quest given in Northern Stranglethorn by a Zandalari (sent and ordered by Rastakhan) to kill either the Bloodscalps/Skullsplitter Tribe (I don’t remember which one it was), due to them fighting over pointless ruins.

These filthy sanddwellers can try to roam around my city

But they’ll be met by orcish steel!

I’ll elaborate on what I said earlier.

If we’re given a customisation option for a playable race without any additional lore to go with it, I’m going to assume that there’s no reason for that new customisation option to cause any fuss and that there’s no reason for anyone to fret over it in-character.
It’s how I’m acting towards Wildhammer tattoos, the human ethnic options and the boneless undead, so it’s how I’m going to act towards the troll options as well. I see no reason to treat them as an exception to the rule.
So if Blizzard releases customisation options that allow for ochre-skinned and ochre-haired trolls in the Horde without any lore to go with them, I’m just going to assume that they’re an unremarkable sight within the Horde that’s not worth commenting on.

So I’ll be a little bemused if characters with these new customisation options end up facing in-character discrimination solely because they’re using the new options, especially if there’s no new lore that will come with them.
