Shadows Rising Spoilers

Thought this could use a separate thread from the Alpha one since some might not want wires crossed when it comes to game/book spoilers. With the embargo lifted on reviewer copies and some lucky people receiving their copies early, certain tidbits have been leaked including a very juicy pairing.

They’re really amping up the fanservice

Another link that’s worth paying attention to is this one:

There’s also the less citable claims that Turalyon is serving as the commander-in-chief of the Alliance and the regent when Anduin goes missing in Shadowlands. All rather relevant stuff, for anyone planning on roleplaying in Azeroth during the coming expansion. Shadowlands really is going to be another Warlords of Draenor in that regard, if not worse.

Congratulations to people who wanted that ship to sail.

Now I expect you all to get on board with my Tess x Vanessa ship so we can bring down the monarchy together.

Pretty weird considering he’s a complete stranger to modern Azeroth and the modern Alliance. Surely they could’ve chosen someone that was a better fit.

Shadowlands has two canonically gay couples and a trans man. Damn I’m so hyped for this expansion aaaaa

I was never the biggest fan of this pairing due to Shaw being a bit of a nothinburger especially in comparison to Flynn, who Blizzard was hinting at having affections towards Taelia, but I am not at all surprised they took the characters in this direction after seemingly shelving Taelia too, but at the end of the day it doesn’t really destroy anything either.

Aside my personal opinions on the chemistry of the two characters, representation is still a good thing, but I do hope they carry it over to the actual in-game portrayal of these two as well and don’t just make it so that they can hide away this detail for certain countries and their audiences.

its a monobrow attempt at pandering lmao, no better than when Sylvanas was made Warchief

He also sits the throne of Stormwind. A foreign usurper. How low the Wrynns have fallen.

That is, if Anduin is even a true Wrynn at all…I don’t traffic in rumours normally, but I was speaking to some fellows while out and about and they said that they’d heard that Anduin wasn’t even the true child of Varian and Tiffin. That he was the adopted bastard of a Menethil. And you know, when you look at paintings of that fallen prince you might see a resemblance…

Not that I’m suggesting any sort of treasonous implications against him of course, just the sort of thing that’s been heard out on the streets. I’m a man of the people you see. Always got my ear to the ground.

Considering they plan expansions years in advance I think it’s pretty clear why they made Sylvanas Warchief

Yikes. Like. Why not elect Greymane? He’s been bodyguarding Anduin for years now, he’s been in the modern Alliance for 4 years more, he RULES one of the Alliance nations and is literally a king.

Because if you put a new king in charge to take over a new king, some people may get the idea that Genn will now fully rule Stormwind. A military commander is a clear sign of regency, like they did with Bolvar when Varian went missing.

Greymane was the heir at the start of BFA i think.

Everything just randomly gets shuffled around for nothing in SL

It’s from this excerpt.

Standing tall again, Anduin pressed his hand over his heart, finding that Turalyon regarded him with a sure smile. He approved. “I name you High Commander of the Alliance forces. Your task—your only task—is to find Sylvanas Windrunner so we might bring her to proper justice. Hunt her day and night, use whatever means you must.”

That excerpt gave me chills… I might buy this book just for this bit alone.

I’m happy to see more LGBT couples in the game, especially ones that aren’t throwaways in a zone in the middle of nowhere.

I just don’t like Shaw nor Flynn very much; both of their characterisations are somewhere between a wet cardboard box and a pot hole on a road. I’d have preferred they make some other more prominent and interesting main characters LGBT.

That being said, Maddy Roux is a good author and based on how she wrote Moment in Verse, I’m optimistic for how she pulls this off. I hope the novel fleshes them out into something more interesting than the one dimensional tropes they currently are.

Agreed. It is also a show that minority characters can be depicted well. I absolutely love Flynn, his wit and overall character is just so well done. So when it turns out he’s bi, I just shrug it off and still love the character. Now if they sacrificed those characteristics to make being bi his sole character trait, then I’d have a problem. But so far, I want more adventures with my favourite briny rogue!

Flynn is a criminal btw. Piracy is one of the worst crimes under Kul TIran law, he should be arrested and executed.
