Shaman: Dear Aggrend, this is not a nerf, this is raw gameplay destruction

P3 haven’t released and it’s already bad.

Just went online and saw the Way of Earth doesn’t work anymore with Rockbiter. Now you also have to equip shield.

WTF? Why? Wasn’t SoD meant to be about experimenting and enjoying unconventional gameplays? Was it too much fun for me to enjoy 2H tanking and exotic pvp build? (Basically you had the CHOICE to sacrifice mana sustainability for life sustainability with Way of Earth + Water shield, I nicknamed that “Enhance Mud spec”.)
Has fun to be removed this way from SoD?

Enh shaman doesn’t have reach like a warrior or a rogue. This means now we have become dummy target without any counter (apart from changing spec to Ele).

This is again stupid game design, apeasing the crowd with removing a feature, instead of properly taking care of the game.

I wasn’t expecting such changes for a simple Phase. It’s more like infamous infuriating Retail Expac kind of change.

Have you noticed such changes on other classes?

edit: an idea of the way to handle imbalance without removing the ability:

While Rockbiter Weapon is active on your main hand weapon and you have a shield equipped , you deal 50% increased threat, gain 30% increased health, take 10% reduced damage, gain 6% reduced chance to be critically hit by melee attacks, and Earth Shock taunts targets to attack you and has a separate cooldown from other Shock spells but has its range reduced to melee range. Reduces melee attack power by [XXX] if no shield equipped.

This way, if you chose to go WoE you’d pay it back with damage reduction if you’re not full-defensive (shield).

Big oof. And I believe the phrase you’re looking for is “meme build”. That said shamans will be fine, chin up lad.

What do you call “meme build”? Who are you dude? Are you even playing SoD?

Hunter treatment for shamans, get used to it. Atleast you had a whole phase

Im playing enhance and WoD was broke as enhance in pvp. this is a fine solution.

I didn’t notice any other class that was a raid boss neither.

As we said since the 27 february patch failure, enjoy it while it last, it was a mistake.

Now you might gotta learn to play the game instead feelsbad <3

Also doesnt this change only affect enhancement dps shamans since resto and ele can just use caster shield and 1h and be even tankier than before?

You babies are the exact reason why the game is relentlessly becoming bad with patches.

You ask for stoopid vengance “Pliz daddy blizzard BREAK 'EM!! they r MEAN :sob: :sob:” instead of encouraging the devs to find fair in-between solutions. Way of earth too strong? Then reduce a bit of tankiness, do not remove the whole possibility.

Ofc in the end, the devs are accountable for finding bad solutions. You just act like headless chicken, it’s not your work to find solution, so I don’t blame you that much.

lol, yes.
But I guess they’ll have big mana sustainability tho

I for one did, very much  Neither good nor bad times last forever. Gotta learn to cherish the good times while they last, not dwell on the past when they’re over, and have faith that a brighter future is in store during rough patches. That’s some life advice from old Shivvy.

We dont know how it will stack for lvl 50, but I do know that you are now in the same league as everyone else when attacked. Only people i feel sorry for Are the tank shammys.

The others as you wrote for 5 weeks ish, «git good» and not my problem

I don’t see any of your achievements my dear love <3.
Please bring your experience to explain me why your kind can OS anybody while being barely unkillable and whine when you get balance to others level.

Really sorry that you gotta have to learn to play it is ridiculous right ?

Shamans tears satisfy my thirst.

Shamans “tanking” in 2h while literally one-shotting every class in the game was fun, I bet, just not for anyone not playing the shaman.

Looking at how things stand so far only Elemental stands to get a real benefit out of WoE. As resto in pvp you are much better off with having Earth Shield for no heal push-back and some self sustain or Shamanistic Rage to not run out of mana easily.

I never used WoE as resto since mid P1 as resto, it’s a big trap, the moment you get ganged up on the spell push-back means you are just gonna die a bit slower. Also having a ranged interrupt is sometimes almost just as valuable as all the WoE perks.

Exactly what I said - passive-agressive baby. Uninteresting

ok then let’s take five minutes to imagine a more elegant solution.

While Rockbiter Weapon is active on your main hand weapon and you have a shield equipped, you deal 50% increased threat, gain 30% increased health, take 10% reduced damage, gain 6% reduced chance to be critically hit by melee attacks, and Earth Shock taunts targets to attack you and has a separate cooldown from other Shock spells but has its range reduced to melee range. Reduces melee attack power by [same amount that Rockbiter increases it, or even more] if no shield equipped.

Not my problem

Depends on who you ask actually!

Kinda kinky ngl.

“What anime did to a generation of mf”

Metalocks, some paladins, warriors too.

I guess they will World Bossing alone now, since they removed shamans, “great improvement” for the health of the game…

I dont even play warrior, but for you to call them raid bosses just shows how out of this world you are rn

Enhance will be fine in PvE and PvP.

This was just a huge nerf for tank shamans. Not only they force the use of a shield and thus killing the DW play style that you went for when damage income wasn’t dangerous (like fury prot in Era), but they also severely nerfed RB’s AP contribution.

What they should’ve done is one or the other. For instance, WoE could still force a shield but keep RB intact or they can change RB to the TBC version (although not terrible like it is there) if they’re unable to balance RB with the Mental Dexterity rune. To preserve the DW play style, all they had to do was reduce damage done by 30% while not having a shield equipped with WoE.

They could’ve also given tank shamans a “Lava Bash” ability to account for the loss of Lava Lash, or made Molten Blast deal damage based on the number of targets (maximum against one, spread just like now from 2 to 4) because the issue is single target tanking. AoE is fine but mana is a big problem when you don’t block due to the way Shield Mastery works.

Also, the AP nerf hurts Molten Blast a lot, since the ability scales off AP and not SP and is right now bugged, generating way less threat than it should.

There’s many ways in which they could have balanced this, and they simply chose the worst approach. We’re basically back to P1 tanking but without DW: rotating shocks and starving for mana while dealing extremely low (1/4 or 1/3 of what DW was doing) damage.
