Quite enjoying SOD so far with my friends, having a blast, doing the quests, the professions, etc. PVP is my favorite so far, and I do have WoW experience, that being said though, I have a question for all of you;
Priest or Shaman? I nearly have priest to 25, and he seems to be loads better than shaman, the healing, the group content, pvp in general I don’t have much experience with priest atm, but, shaman seems, ‘Eh’ Now, I know with P2, comes Chain Lightning, which with overload seems disgusting. But I wanted your honest opinions so far, and what your thoughts are going in P2.
Depends on the pvp you want to do. If you enjoy group pvp more (doing BGs, getting in a premade, grouping as 5+ in the outside world) then priest will probably be better. You will always be wanted and will be one of the strongest (if not the strongest) healers, and it will be quite enjoyable.
If you prefer the solo pvp content more though, then shaman is your class. In my opinion shaman will be one of the most enjoyable classes to play for pvp in phase 2. Devs are saying specifically that they are adding some runes to make 2H enha viable, which we all know is super fun and known for its 1 tap potential, and if this doesn’t work out well then ele is also gonna be very fun since it has as well the famous one shot casts.
All this said - you didn’t mention which spec you wanted to play each class on. My comment replies to priest heal and shaman dps. If you want to heal on both of them I’d say priest will be more enjoyable overall, and if you want to dps - the opposite.
nothing is more boring than 2H enha. Ele will be fun. enha as usual, will be a garbage slot maching for lowskilled players.

I’m sorry but if tabbing someone and 1-shotting him with 1 GCD is not fun, then we have a completely different understanding of fun, which, of course, has nothing bad in it, everyone has fun in different ways, but saying that there’s “nothing more boring” than that is a bit odd.

Tabbing something and doing litteraly no damage because wf didnt proc. Meanwhile ele does 2x the base damage and has on demand burst higher than enha can ever dream of
wasnt Ele burst nerfed by disabling spell batching?
Idk ive got an ele on era, and i still consistently do over 4k dmg in a single global. With spellqueuing you always get the double crit on cl + shock
Yea, this would probably happen in 70% of the cases. But in the other 30 you will oneshot someone if you are geared enough. Ele would have to cast to burst someone, its not insant.
As I said - fun is different for everybody. Both specs have a gambling machine in them. If you want to own people consistantly and not rely on CDs, then you won’t play shaman at all.
Ive tried enha with r14 weapons and some decent gear from bwl, aq and even naxx. Even if you wf, you still do not oneshot stuff unless they are in litteral greens. Ele getting random crits on lightning bolts does more “burst” than a wf proc. Heck just lb+ shock is already probably more than a wf proc if you dont get crits

I would say priest is safer pick for pvp but unfocused Ele shamman can completly wreck enemy team

I haven’t really done any pvp on my priest, but you’re always wanted in every type of content. It’s the only character I have where random people whisper “yo wanna come XYZ?”.
As for shaman it’s a great tank and that’s also what makes it good in pvp. Way of Earth carries hard and you sometimes feel almost indestructible. In short: I have thoroughly enjoyed pvp on my shaman in p1 and it’s felt very strong. As for p2 who knows, we’ll see when we know the runes. But I doubt Way of Earth will ever fall off unless they nerf it. The downside of shaman - depending on what you think of it - might be that you have to tank, heal or play ele. Things aren’t looking good for enhance dps.

I have both currently and played both in classic to wrath.
Currently priest is miles better than shaman but frankly I have so much more fun with my shaman even when I die.
You win more 1v1 / 1v2 with priest but the gameplay isn’t really fun imo
