I believe Shamanism, ride the lightning and grounding totem are the dominant picks. I would like to know first how you guys use Grounding Totem effectively (it only lasts for 3 secs). Second, what are your thought on Counterstrike Totem (i love it, often chose it over GT), purging waves, the wolf healing one, swelling waves (OP), and any other pvp talents we have that im forgetting.
Is Thundercharge any good? in theory it sounds awesome but does it reduce cds by any significant amount?
I wish Grounding and Counterstrike were baseline. I have no choice but to pick passive talents as resto. Instead of of active talents that would enrich the gameplay and increase player agency.
I use GT at the last moment of a casted cc so I don’t get juked, or before I want to cast something crucial to prevent a counterspell/windshear/spell lock etc. Otherwise to just block deadly things like Chaosbolts, Stormkeeper, Combustion burst, Convoke with celestial alignment.
About CS-Totem. I don’t use it. It’s a fun talent, but better players use Nameplates to track totems and CS-Totem is destroyed by one weapon swing. A wasted slot in my eyes…
Thundercharge is situationally good I’d say. I’d take it to support classes with short CD abilities like WW monks with their RSK and FoF- combos. It helps them to use these abilities more often. It could also help you to shorten the CD of your “mini CD” like Earthbind and Cap Totem or Spirit Walk.
I just recently found that GT is for 3 seconds or 3 spells, i thought as long as it was down it would absorb spells, so i didnt use it right until a couple weeks ago, oops! CS maybe in higher ratings yes but up until 1.6k i think people often miss it and it really damages them.
As for thundercharge, its nice but i feel like its never better than other talents.
Recently i started using Ride the Lightning as a must, before i had swelling waves but since i started using Draven as a soulbind i really like RTL. I think if purifying waters was baseline that would be a great, fair addition to shaman
Counterstrike totem is useless at least for ele and resto as the damage is capped. Don’t know about enha pvp talents but I’d imagine there are better options to pick.
Baka of Creed was using thundercharge in their Turbocleave into mage teams, I think Shamanism can be Klepto’d off so that might be why, also having you and your warrior’s CDs rotate back up faster is no bad thing.
Typically I got for Shamanism, Grounding and Swelling. Into Melee comps I swap to RtL.
Counterstrike as higher ratings is fairly useless, but it can be good against Cleave comps, Can go unnoticed when the Frost DK is gripping everyone in and cleaving with a ww or warrior. But usually it’s just insta gibbed
Spectral Healing can be decent but rarely worth taking over swelling waves.
the purge healing one just feels weird, purge is expensive and using it to heal isn’t great.

A partial revamp is needed. We have so many talents yet only a few are used due to how essential they are.
Grounding should be baseline again as it’s picked every time. Just make it not work in raids or have limited effect.
Id like to see maybe earth living weapon added as a healer PvP talent. Or just added again.
Purge electrocute needs its damage upped as its useless or totally redone. Maybe on purge causes the next heal to that target to heal your earth shield target x%
Perhaps a “shield talent” that allows Lightning shield to be cast offensively onto friendly. Causing aoe damage over 5seconds as it uses up the shield totally.
I’d like hex talent to do more than just reduce CD maybe having a stacking self buff like Chain heal To make it fast cast. Or change it’s school of magic to shadow. Having CC and heals on same school isn’t great.
The biggest change PvP talent would be something like “chieftain totem” : your totem spells can be cast onto players and they carry them on their backs giving all the benefits for the duration.
Static ground based totems are terrible in dynamic PvP. Specially our BIG def CDs like spirit link and earthen wall.
im not sure what PVP talent changes i want. I dont want to have 10 good options for talents and right now we have like 4-5 viable ones which is good. I’d like to see some improvements on hex or purge, maybe something like purifying waters (3% heal on each purge) to be baseline, GT to be baseline, but nothing else too huge. I think RTL is amazing, I also dont care about another weapon imbue, i just want flametongue to do something better other than 42 dmg on each strike, thats laughable.
Yeah but if they don’t have 10 VIABLE choices. Then why have 10 talents. Just make it 5 with situational uses. What I don’t want is to many talents that are so good you can’t drop. And therefore should be baseline.
grounding is a prime example. It’s. Just to good.
I think each spec should have a weapon embue. It was a classic shaman element.
Rock biter Flame tongue and Earth living. All should be spec specific and baseline.
yes agreed. I think we’re not in a terrible position, given you have some skills/knowledge of the game. With some tweaks here and there we can really become competitive, and we deserve that
