Now only 3 classes remain that are going to expand to other races in the near future, my hope and bet is on Shaman being next in line. Simply because Pally and Druid probably require more labor. Pally perhaps similar to Shaman, but they do have more races they still need to expand to.
With the roadmap for 10.1.5 already being announced, I hope Blizzard will push Shaman for patch 10.1.7.
My guess for Pallies is that they will follow soon after or even 10.1.7 along with Shaman. As Blizzcon will follow soon after 10.1.7, maybe druid models will be shown during Blizzcon? Theyre the only class with new assets I would consider to have any significance for them to save for Blizzcon anyway.
Ive mained Shaman since tbc myself, really excited about finally being able to play my favorite class along with my favorite race after all these years. Thought Id share some lore idea’s on expanding Shaman to other races:
Blood Elf:
- Tie this new combo to the restoration of the dead scar. Earthen ring was also involved with mending Azeroth when Sargaras did stabby stabby. So why not apply the same logic and make it a necessity in order to restore the dead scar, perhaps again with aid of the Earthen Ring.
- Just a small detail, but would be funny to have Elementalist Starion back as a Shaman NPC. Could well be that he somehow survived the smack on his head and came to his senses.
Forsaken:
- The new decay magic lore added in DF, even though its known to pollute the elements. Surely the apothecary association will find a way to wield this type of magic without its polluting effect on the elements. Or even a necessity for this form of Shamanism in order to keep overflowing spirit in balance and maintaining harmony.
- Using Decay magic itself to reverse its effect and help restore dead scar in collaboration with Blood Elfves and the Earthen Ring. Since the latest Forsaken writing implied theyre lost and without purpose, well this could give them some.
- Would like it for the Forsaken to have stronger ties to Decay magic because of their nature. Just like KT Human use drust magic, which is also considered death magic and part of the cycle /not malicious. Same logic could be applied to Shamanism as a means to harmony among the elements.
- Gravestone totems, please
Nightborn:
- Arcane magic. Jaina sort of laid out the lore for mages binding elements with arcane magic in her novel. Could be interpretation of Shamanism, similarly to how Tidesages are interpreted as Shaman with KT Human.
Gnome:
- “Borrowed” Goblin tech they used to create their own conduits
Human:
- Kurzen Human Shaman from STV getting a settlement in SW.
Night Elf:
- Tie it to the growth of the new world tree, or in anticipation of it. Maybe to ensure stability of the elements in the area, as the consumption of spirit for its growth during early stages could destabilize elements in the area.
Mecha Gnome:
- Same as Gnome, or technology created through collaboration by both races
Lightforged Draenei:
- Learned the ways from normal Draenei
Worgen:
- New found discovery their instincts allow them to have a strong connection to the elements
I think these would be motives that make sense in general and/or have some reasoning for ongoing lore. I realize I rambled on, but what are your thoughts or idea’s?
