Shaman runes and item interactions

There are what seem to be a couple of interaction bugs and problems, the likes of which I’ve seen patched before so I can only assume they’re bugs.

Issue 1: The “chance on hit” effects from both ‘Hand of Edward the Odd’ and ‘Hammer of Ji’zhi’ interact strangely with Maelstrom Weapon. It will ALWAYS consume both the on hit effect from these weapons AND any stacks of Maelstrom Weapon, effectively… saving you mana perhaps?

Issue 2: The Shaman Totem “Totem of Conductive Currents” states “While Frostbrand Weapon is active, your Water Shield triggers reduce the cast time of your next Chain Lightning Spell within 15 sec by 20%, and increases its damage by 20%. Stacking up to 5 times.”
It makes no mention of which weapon requires the imbue leading me to believe it did not matter. However, this Totem only grants effects while your Main-Hand weapon is imbued with Frostbrand and completely ignores the Off-Hand.

This totem was a completely failed experiment meant to be used by resto shamans with the Draconic(t2) resto set. It was used by very few people as everyone and their cat figured out, the moment coreforged items were announced, to side-step the ridiculous Draconic resto bonuses and most stuck to using T1 bonuses(Coreforged) as resto. Very few used this totem for anything.

It was never meant to be used by anyone but resto so it’s not a big surprise it doesn’t work with the off-hand weapon. Dual wield restoration interactions got shut down whole phases ago anyway.

Yeah I know its a bit of a meme, however the plan was some kind of spell-hance build. It’s items like this that allow for experimentation and imo - fun (even if in an offbrand kind of way).
It’s a shame when things dont work as expected, kills the little bits of joy to be had from poking around.

I tried to make it work myself. At the end of the day what killed any potential was the fact that it was linked to Frostbrand weapon. It essentially meant you were giving away the Burn rune, and slapping Burn with Flametongue gives you several times over the offensive power this totem and Frostbrand would ever hope to achieve.

As things stand I think the devs realized how weak of an idea this was and never bothered to even brain-storm a fix to make it interesting and worth it.

I’m totally with you that it would have been good to have another option to Burn if you want some offense, but they never even bothered to make it worth it.
