Shamans and faction buff parity

What I have said is completely opposite. Paladin don’t need the horn. It was poorly implemented and don’t solve any problems except that hunters won’t get any ranged ap from BoM.
On the other hand, I feel like having tremor and undeads from one side and single-target priest buff on other side is little bit unbalanced. So for me inspirational exemplar is fully justified.

Strength of earth totem is 2 min duration, with a 30 yard range if talented in resto. It was always worse than blessing of might. It requires more micro management than blessings with a lower return.
What would you pick between 17str and 17 agi or 20 str?
Why did paladins get something that is clearly superior, one button press, no issues with range and so on.

Idk what you’re talking about. I’m using exemplar and found it quite useful. It’s just the fact that it ticks every 4 second, not two.
Also I do understand that giving hunter agility could be handy, but spending your own rune slot to give one particular class little bit of stats? No, thank you. Holy palas would take anything but horn, imagine what will happened if they’ll get anything really useful in that slot. Horn of Lordaeron chose rate will fall into oblivion.

Divine storm is already better then giving 17 agi to hunter , why would you lower your own dps so someone else can do more., besides it is only party wide so you would need some agi hungry setup for your group, I mean it is possible when 40 man raids come , but I would def not want to be pala who click this spell every 2 minutes.

Re-read my post, IF runes remain unchanged up to lvl 60 do you see holy palas taking aegis, divine storm or seal of martyrdom in a raid over a powerful buff?
Atm in classic at lvl 60 shaman agi and str totems gives 77 agi and respectively 77 str. Again, IF considering buff parity horn will give the same amount, that is not

before kings/hunter aura.

Later on you’ll find out that warriors and palas(i’d assume here to you ret palas would be of importance) also get 1%crit per 20 agi. All that in one powerful buff you don’t outrange or get destroyed like some totems.
If they will add a more useful rune a hpala could take in that slot later on, that’s another story, but right now that’s not the case.
Since they copy/paste and improve so much stuff from shamans before the give it to palas why didn’t they for example give immunity to shamanistic rage or smth? forget about the mana regen lol when fights will last under 1 min with the achievable dps.

IF holy pala will remain unchanged there will be just no holy palas, so no slots for Horn anyways.
You can insult me however you like(even though I’ve played both war and pala up to 60 and pretty sure know how their stats works), but the truth is Horn of Lordaeron only viable in the slightest because holy palas have one of the worst rune sets in the game. No wonder they are least popular healers, even lower than shamans and mages.

I’ve asked a bit of shaman brothers and sisters on Living Flame EU and most of them concluded that if lvl 40 kit with the new runes doesnt make some impact…they rather just leave SoD and not bother at all , heck some of them even said they would rather want a TBC era server to play TBC Enh and Ele sham (yeah , TBC not Wrath) than this mixed botched TBC + Wrath + Cata SoD version we have now…

Horde feral here, might be biased but i think Feral will stay as the prefered way to get WS/ WF because on top of it they bring:

  • Good DPS (and will get extremely good with Gnom hammer*).
  • +30% damage to the highest dps classes bleeds
  • Battle rez
  • The ability to tank with the same talen tree

*: problem, in Classic the Gnom hammer was farmable solo, here as Gnom becomes a raid and if loot tables are as horrible as in BFD, the vast majority of ferals will never see the hammer drop. I have yet to see the feral hammer from bfd drop, raiding at every reset.

By 40 we’ll basically know whether or not there’s any chance of the class being decent at DPS. If it’s still rock bottom by such a large margin as now there’s no way it’s going to improve because Blizzard either doesn’t understand the issue or even care.

I don’t think it’s going to happen. Maybe for elemental, but the base talents for enhance are simply too weak compared to other classes, so the runes would have to be something out of this world for enhance to even be middle of the pack. The latter being further complicated by splitting resources between 2h and DW as part of the community demands.

Hopefully shaman remains a good tank, but they manage to make it a bit more fun to play instead of just auto attacking a bunch like now. If it’s also strong in PVP in the future I’ll probably still play mine, but it’s looking pretty grim for shaman as a DPS class.

Thanks for the input. It really is grim , feels like a trap bait class as a whole to play shaman at in SoD right now , almost like Horde are minus 1 whole class while Alliance are like plus 2 (maybe 3) with paladins. But even if shamans remain tanks , they still need a better kit for said “tanking” , at higher stages and end game slaps in the face will be huge and we need bigger mitigation. Maybe something like , i dont know , rune of Earth Warden where is increases armor contribution from all mail gear by 500% , inc health by additional 30% and something else ? Just to be on par with plate tanks.

Just to chime in with some positives,

I’ll play shaman in SoD no matter what because I love the class and here’s what I hope will do it,

Elemental

  • elemental overload at 50% is still a very good thing. Remember early TBC ele shaman? Top of dps until late tier 5.
  • hopefully wrath of air totem comes in and the spell power totem (forgot the name) too making it the best caster support class.

Resto

  • again elemental overload at 50% + chain heal will be killer. We’d loose healing rain but I think that’s no biggie (I’d hate to reduce the healing kit but I don’t see how HR could trump EO)
    -great mana regen
  • with SP totem (I know, a lot of IFs) and mana tide - greet caster/healer support

Enhancement

  • Well, this one is tricky, we’ll see I guess depending on the runes, but I’m not that enthusiastic about it
