Shamans and Priest’s purges are a broken thing. These two classes can spam purges all day long without losing any considerable mana. I play mage and since the realese of Shadowlands I’ve seen my class being nerfed a couple of times and more nerfes incoming in the next patch. Adding to this, Combust which is the only offensive cds for fire mages can be purged. Please consider, at least, making combust non purgeble.

And yet we still see quite a few mages in the AWC, i dont think its beacause they are bad. You also forgot to mention that mages are getting BUFFED next patch too, allthough its frost.
I dont mind that they rework mages, increase their overall dmg and reduce their burst. I dont mind.
You can get dispelprotections though, hots/buffs etc etc. And if you play RMPala you can easily manage to get your combust up without getting dispelled (sheep/blind/kidney/ring/hoj on different targets)
I feel having it purgeable brings up the skill-floor of mages. If they can just pop it without any worry, it would be dumb tbh. Cross-cc with your partners, and you can get your combust off in peace (more or less)

What if you only had polymorph and ring of frost to cc the purgers before your burst and or team CCs for you…

Spamming purge is a horrible design but tbh right now everyone has billion crap buff to purge before getting the spell you want.
For example mage have all the time atleast 5 buff to purge to get combust or alter in general and even if I’m free I can’t get it in time, I guess everyone has a kind of purge protection now.

you are playing the best caster in the game. Maybe rebuff int and give yourself 3 shields before combusting? Its almost impossible to purge combust off only if you get super lucky
As arcane purge spam is hurtful, but I have no problem with priests purging. They have to cast at some point. Resto shaman on the other hand are terribly unbalanced in 2v2. With just Earth Shield and Riptide they are done with the healing so they can purge spam endlessly.
There’s nothing I can do against a restoration shaman to annoy him. Nothing. So make clearcasts unpergeable or nerf restoration shaman’s non-casted healing.

Except Mistweavers! We used to have Zen Pulse and our class buff, but they were pruned.
I kinda agree offensive dispels and what buffs are magic or not could use a rework or at least, some more thought. Some comps are a PITA without an offensive dispel and some comps literally lose some real offensive or defensive potential when you have one.
I don’t think the current way that offensive dispels work is interesting (I don’t think they’ve been for a while tbh). Else you spam it because the real mana/global cost is too low, else you can’t spam it but there are like 9 trash buffs so you can’t dispel what you want anyway by the end of the effect, in the end it’s something you use without any afterthought.
While I’m not a fan of klept and I’m glad they’re making it arcane exclusive I think something in-between could be great.
Same goes for defensive dispels. With the spammable CC on different schools and the strength of some effects (mindgames, corruption, flame shock) I sometimes find the 8-second cooldown too high.
You could align purge with dispel and give it an 8 seconds cooldown but purge all magic spells. Resto druids and fire mages would cry of good reason.
Some serious answer: use your cross cc to protect your go of disruption.
Hi Bob, u can protect ur baseline combustion via triple shield+intellect buff, u can also cross CC the enemy team, + u don’t need the whole duration of combustion, just few seconds of it.
Now take a look at warlocks, they have to spend a talent in the final talent row, and they need to hardcast all the shirt and more, they don’t have triple shield and class buff to protect their darksoul, and u mages can easily spell steal it - warlock are so generous to give an enemy mage an additional burst CD!

If anything purge and dispel magic should dispel two buffs and not one.
o No fire mage cannot 1v3 so far lets buff them

Lock don’t have a single buff to protect dark soul. Drood, mage, sham and Kyrian can also dispel our curse. Shadow and holy priest can dispel UA on all target without taking damage. Monk, DH, Rogue can clear all our dot. Rogue can perma stealth with dot on them. Hunter can perma dispel all the dot.
Only Pala/Dk don’t have so much things in their design.
Chaos Bolt cannot be purged, why Arcane Missiles?
I’m OK with Arcane Power being purged, also barriers, alter time and temporal shield. But why missiles?
If I’m unable to do damage how i’m suposed to force the healer to do something different than purge spam?
Don’t you have nether ward?
Didn’t destro have the haste buff?
Not sure if there is anything else, I am not a warlock player but from the top of my head I am pretty sure these two are still in the game.

Nether ward is a high priority dispell/defensive cd. You could equally argue to give Power Infusion to protect Combustion.
I do not argue if it’s good or bad. He said warlock has not a single buff to protect dark soul, regardless if it’s good or not.
