Uh, no. Shamans are definitely not the kings of dungeon healing. Regardless, comparing healers, to tanks in dungeon scenario is nothing alike. When tanks have a vastly difference in playstile between each other, healrs don’t.
Ofc they are they have the best party buffs for speed running they also have heroism then after that it’s paladin for the salvation, priests are bottom of the ladder I’m afraid your just not cut out for it priests are so 2007 (your logic)
Yea, i tried that. But as i said, follow marks and actually do CC seem to be an alien concept to most players. I guess i will just have to try and grind in the mentality in to people.
Probleemloos with your group not you.
I feel the same on my warrior
If dps want to let loose then they should know how to kite
On big groups, all you can do is demo roar and swipe+maul while tab targeting (prioing targets most likely to get ripped). If you have engineering, you can use sappers for initial snap threat but I only bother in raids.
As mentioned before, with spellcleave comps (warlock+mage), your job is to gather all the mobs and then try tank/cc any ranged or escapee’s. On most other comps CC is crucial, together with focussing down the right mobs.
peopel are just way to used to face tanking and holding agro 100 % of time from retail while dps do nothing but pump aoe 90 % of time - thats why they fail so badly in classic
I didn’t find any problem with sethekk halls, AC was much more annoying cause those ghosts kept spawning after pull.
Also avoid warlocks and mages, or tell them to not AoE, usually mark a target with skull, pref one you don’t mind losing aggro on, like a caster and tell them not to use any aoe until that target is dead.
But yeah in general druid tank sucks, it has lower threat multipliers, the game assumes you’re doing high damage but for that you need good gear and your aoe is limited to spamming swipe which only hits 3 targets.
Usually i ask for cc if there are more than 3 targets but if your group knows what they’re doing it works regardless, for example i tanked shadow lab and didn’t use any cc in the room with the second boss and had no threat issue whatsoever, i had a mage in party but he managed his threat very well.
After i wrote this i realized this topic is about shattered not sethek but don’t want to delete it now , the same principles apply
Retail is kite galore in mythic
Facetanking is more TBC then retail IMO
Totally agree are to.many pump dps blind folded. The care only to lunch cd and numbers up ignoring tank need to make threat going either to close to take and get cleave… and list go on
I would say it is a bit of both. I am not flawless and i do misstakes, a lot of them
Shattered Halls notoriety is well known.
I have less than pleasant memories running it back in bc and that was as a mere dps.
I’m Prot warr this time and I WILL bend shattered halls to my will…
well that’s the plan anyway lol I am looking forward to it regardless.
That’s ok tho, you should get the space and opportunity to learn. Someone else said it already, but I’ll say it as well, see if you can find some people to play with. Maybe guildies, maybe some nice people you meet along the way. It’s a great deal more fun to learn with people who are supportive, and it’s great when you learn to play as a team. Then any class or spec handicaps are simply a challenge for someone else in the group, you make it work together.
Tbc is when minmaxing really started when it comes to single target and boss engagements elitist jerks had it all figured out. What we can consider new in tbc is the speedrunning meta and how to save time on killing trash and that is where warriors will shine so the bad rep warriors had in tbc as dps will change
Ive tanked a bit as a Warrior. DPS players and healers alike don’t know how to play in a way that allows non paladin tanks to build threat. Example is doing shadow labs, if the group allows the Warrior to LOS pull and get a couple of GCD’s threat then the Warrior can generally hold on pretty fine and that feeds the rage feedback loop from hits and blocks etc.
But when they don’t allow that small window it goes from tanking at 90% effectiveness to tanking at 10% effectiveness, not receiving rage so you can’t cast abilities, having to play taunt tennis and meanwhile the dps continue to pump hard and then run around like headless chickens with agro… In those situations the dps make it impossible, and healers can be guilty to by causing healing threat during the pulls.
That said, it’s perfectly possible if your dps players are aware of the situation and help you along, not pretend like Druids/Warriors can tank like Paladins with their on demand AOE threat.
