Sheathing weapons on back / sides [2023]

I’m sure this has been addressed so many times already but:

When is Blizzard gonna add the ability to switch between sheathing your weapons on your sides or back for ALL classes? I’m no developer, but adding the ability as a toggle-function in the barbershop shouldn’t be a problem, right? Hell, even making it purchasable in the Trading Post in Dragonflight could even be an option.

Don’t get me wrong; as a monk I feel especially lucky to have the ability to wield my weapons on my character’s back. Unfortunately for some weapons, like maces and hammers, it looks terrible. I was grinding hard for a new transmog (double-wielding hammers), but I totally forgot my monk would just sheath the things on his back - ruining the idea.

This of course works both ways, as many people would rather want to wield their weapons on their back, as apposed to their hips.

Do you guys think the option will ever be included?

I would very much like that as well. I want my sword to be sheathed on the back togeather with my shield but are limited to just a very few swords to be able to do that. Monk has a very unique utility. It is the only class that can hide their weapons entirely.

You can do that as well on a few other classes (like me, using the ghost shard!), all the classes that can equip 1 handed maces or daggers for instance (and if you have a backpack, all the classes that have weapons on back), although is more a workaround than a solution. I totally support this as well!

AKSHUALLY…All classes can do that by wearing any 3D back item, such as the Shadowlands covenant back pieces, or the recent backpacks.

Barbershop or a glyph option would be lovely.

I would like them to add a Sheath item slot. Then we could choose simple leather or elaborate metal work versions and these would specify whether they were back or side (maybe even front like a Bandolier).

I do see an issue with:

Swords and Daggers would be great with sheathes, them sticking through your belt on just on your back looks weird.

Yea but with the monk the weapon stays invisible even if you fight. (unarmed Combat)

You can mimic this with small, vanilla fist weapons appearances.

Yea… I use very small claws on my SHaman.(Wolverine style)

True! That’s an entirely different discussion about wanting the choice between armed and unarmed monks (I won’t bore ya with that)

I don’t mind that the weapons stay on my character when in combat, but for RP-reasons I’d like the ability to choose between hips or back.
