Shift + key (A/C/X/4 etc.) keybinds don't work sometimes

I couldn’t figure out why, but sometimes when I press, for example, SHIFT + X, the pressing of SHIFT button doesn’t register, no matter how hard I press it and the game just executes the ability that is tied to the X button instead which is super annoying. It happens to most buttons, except for SHIFT + spacebar or SHIFT + mouse button 4. This keeps popping up randomly, lasts for a few seconds, usually during combat or between pulls and then goes back to normal, so it’s super frustrating.

I have bought a new keyboard thinking this will solve the problem, but it didn’t. Everything works perfectly outside of WoW. What can cause this?

You don’t put any of your computer details in the post, but I’ll assume you’re on a Windows PC.

Does this happen with BOTH Shift keys ?

ah, yes, Windows PC, and I have no idea about the second one because it only happens during intense situations like dungeons and in combat anywhere, so I’d need to use the right shift during those times and I would never do that
Which else computer details should I put in?

Might be helpful to post your OS, processor and GPU - I doubt anything else is relevant.

I understand totally about the ‘intense situations’ thing. Could you maybe experiement out of combat (with training dummies or similar) and see if the problem is duplicated there when using the other SHIFT key ?

Shift button problems usually come up when your game window isn’t properly in focus. Try spamming alt-tab a couple of times and seeing if it momentarily fixes itself. You’ve given too little information to assume anything but it might just as well be keyboard ghosting - sometimes button presses won’t register if you are holding down a specific combination of keys.
