Macros are turning to questionmarks whenever i press shift. Now i cant use macros with keybinds like shift + F… Macros working totally fine with “normal” keybinds. Tryed every option with shift and disabled them, disabled all keybinds, uninstallt the whole game + Addons & -manager. Now, on a complete raw Wow game, the issue is still there.
Anyone has an idea what is going on with my interface? Thanks for ur Help!
Do you have a razer keyboard that could be the issue like a keybind set or something?
you spelt the name wrong, that’s why it turns into a question mark when you press shift (unknown spell)
You spelt the name wrong or your the macro doesn’t have #showtooltip or uses #showtolltip SpellName
It happens when you use someone else’s macro and don’t understand how they work.
Hi,
Thanks for your replys!
sadly a wrong spelling is not the issue. i show you a simple downrank macro i am using.
“#showtooltip
/cast [nomod] Power Word: Shield; [mod:alt] Power Word: Shield(Rank 1)”
when i use it with my keybind “R” i can use both ranks tooltips are shown and the modifier is working. Whenever i press shift, the icon of the spell is turning into a question mark as if the spelling was wrong.
i dont use a razor keyboard.
edit:
whenever i use the Macro on a Shift + keybind (for example shift 3) the macro is only working with the modifier alt, so i can only cast the Rank 1 in that case. Also the Spellicon is shown whenever i press shift 3 + alt.
I can see the reason, there is no shift modifier so it has no spell, hence the question mark.
You could make it
#showtooltip
/cast [nomod] Power Word: Shield; [mod:alt] Power Word: Shield(Rank 1); [mod:shift] Power Word: Shield(Rank 2)
or whatever spell you want shift to cast or show. Like I said, it’s a case of not knowing how macros work.
Hey,
You are right, now the questionmark is not appearing, but thats gonna cause that i cant use the [nomod] spell with the macro beeing on a shift + keybind. Logicly its using the shift spell now. So i have the same Problem as before. I use these Macros since classic vanilla, tbc and wotlk. They always worked fine. Since i came back for SoD shift is causing them to not work anymore…
I dont know what changed, tickets are not helping either.
If you read through the macro you can see the problem
nomod causes PW:S to be cast Alt make PW:S 1 to be cast so when you press shift there is nothing for the macro to look at to show you an icon, so get rid of #showtooltip or add the shift mod to it. Why not set the macro to lower case r?
Try #showtooltip Power World: Shield instead of just #showtooltip
This should make it always show the tooltip for the ability if i remember correctly (its been a long time and im at work so cant test to double check)
If I understood ur problem correctly try it like this:
#showtooltip
/cast [mod:alt] Power Word: Shield(Rank 1); Power Word: Shield
(I think i completely misread the issue - sorry)
I have had that issue before (years ago) cant for the life of me remember how i fixed it - i think it was a setting caused by my keyboards own software
hey,
that way the macros are actually working again with shift keybinds. Thanks alot!!
i still dont know what is causing the issue with my old versions of the macro.
Thanks again, its not important anymore!
