Casting frost or fire shock automatically uses these abilities on the closest target my character is looking in the direction of when I have no target selected. Action targeting is disabled, and this issue happens only with shocks.

As a RShaman I would like this functionality to exist.
What spec are you playing?
why would you want it to exist? it’s a fault in the game, frost shock auto targeting something isn’t a good thing
Because I play RShaman. And its a pain to have to tab select enemies to put F. Shock on them for LB procs.
If I can simply press a button on CD and not worry about it… then its better.
Also, the auto target of blizz only does it for mobs you are in combat with. So you would not ninja pull things.
that’s the problem, it sometimes does ninja pull packs you’re not fighting, like imagine you kill a pack and end it off with frost shock, but the pack dies and your frost shock auto targets a new pack. That has happened many times , test urself

THat has never happened. Literally.
To ninja pull a pack you have to tab (or select) the target and cast the spell.
All other auto-targeting things only choose enemies in combat.
I should know. My Lava Surge talent spreads FlameShocks for free after every Healing Surge. Its not even “in a direction”. Just some random NPC.
If that was the case I would be ninja pulling things all the time. But its always mobs in combat.

it sure does, just hasn’t happened to you, probably because you don’t cast alot of shocks at the end of fights as a resto shaman, but you can try it outside or anywhere out of combat, even as resto

And that is why as a Resto I dont mind OPs suggestion.
doesn’t make sense. just have no target and cast a shock out of combat, it will target nearest enemy automatically and cast, that’s what you did? you tried it rn? this has been the case all of S1 and currently. extremely weird if it doesn’t happen to you

If I have no target, it wont cast.
If I am in combat and Master of the Elements procs, it will not jump to any mob that is out of combat with me. Only the ones in combat with me.
What I would like it so press the button and have it cast on a target I am in combat with. Which usually are the ones infront of me.
ok well this is extremely weird, your game works differently than mine and op’s, if we’re truly talkin bout the same thing
master of the elements’ flame shock spread has nothing to do with this topic, which makes me think maybe you misunderstood it. Anyhow this is definitely a thing for some at least and it sucks a lil bit.
maybe there’s a “cast on nearest enemy” type macro, idk
I have pulled packs in m+ because of this 
Also target nearest enemy is wrong in wow. It always appears to target whatever is out of melee range or generally the furthest away.
