Oh yep. It’d look ridiculous. I am fine with blizzard doing this, because nobody of us can stop them, but if I was the one making the decisions? I wouldn’t allow it. They sh*t on the entire lore and world they’ve built and made us breathe in and enjoy for all these years with all of this.
The philosophy behind the new customization is “We want you to make your charcter feel more like you” and not “We want to expand the lore and how the races develop”. I get both sides, to be fair.
Yeah, the afro-centric facial features (flatter noses, thicker lips, tightly curled hair) are lacking from any blood elf customisation. It’s the same reason the current humans look so strange when black; their facial features are entirely euro-centric, which makes them just look incredibly tanned or “black face”.
With any hope, Blizz will give these new facial features to dwarves, gnomes and elves as well, though I wouldn’t hold my breath. I’m happy enough with humans getting it.
I’ll have to stand with Xulshak on this one, they can’t change the gnomes to have more black features because they’ll have to remodel and change the entire gnome race then.
For blood elves and humans (and to a lesser degree the dwarves) it could be done because they look extremely human or their noses are small enough to not be noticable, but for gnomes the nose is like 1/3th of their face!
man, you must hate DARK Rangers with their name and DARKER appearance?
(No I couldn’t be bothered to read past this ONE DOGWHISTLE comment from you, which is clearly meant to farm likes.)
Please… on behalf of the rest I ask you to stop talking.
On a side-note; I have been fighting for darker-skinned Humans-/ BElves-/ Dwarves-/ Gnomes- from the start; but the group of people screaming racists in this thread has been growing alot lately! (Basicly making them ending up in the same group of Pro -white/-Gnome /-african/ -San’layn /-asian/ -Elf/ -Dwarf group in the end. Or atleast literally nothing better as they “claim” to talk for all PoC. Like the white people used to do.
xD he actually said that? ‘‘I think African Americans disproportionately choose to live poverty. Not racist btw!’’. Is this Sargon of Akkard’s toon? Just the dumbest shet. xD
At first I was like ‘Oh, they have been affected by Revendreth and that is why they look all charred and unnatural? That makes sense as an explanation for where they came from and why they don’t look like naturally dark skinned people, I hope the suggestion was made in good faith.’ Checks
World of Warcraft: Where a giant crystal spaceship powered by an ancient timeless being can crash on Azeroth and spout forth blue goat people whose other half of the population are the greatest asset to an endless army of intergalactic/interdimensional demons… But skin tone is apparently a problem.
Make up a bulldung reason why your char has the skin tone it does, just like you did with that scar over your left eye. It’s really not rocket science.
I don’t mind dark-skinned elves so long they remain ELVES above all else. No subculture of elves based on their skin, no elves suddenly acting like trolls because they have dark skin. They are just elves.
From what it seems, a few of the Night Elf features actually extend from the Nightborne features (Green Skin + Orange-like hair), plus the addition of the Night Elves’ dark skin, which is canon and fits in the lore. I don’t care what people say about “all night elves had violet skin.” No…no they didn’t. Some did, but look at the Shen’dralar Zealots, they had blue, quite filthy, looking skin tones.
Many of the Highborne NPC’s around Teldrassil all had very pale skin and white hair, but this is just a distinction that Blizzard wanted to make back in 2010.
I believe that whatever Night Elves get, Blood Elves can also get. Hell, I’d even ask the question as to why Night Elves can’t have jewelry like Blood Elves and why Blood Elves can’t have tattoo’s like how the Night Elves are getting, but also akin to Rommath and Alleria.
They look terrible and well there’s no reason for a race of beings mutated by one particular X to express Human like skin tones, it’s not like we have Tanaris Blood Elves right?
But its an alpha I’m sure they can either come up with lore or make the models look better, hopefully both.
Humans are different skin tones to adapt to different enviroments.
Where as Blood Elves/High Elves are the colour/way they are due to being exposed to magic in one place.
Hence them not needing various skin tones to aclimatise to say Tanaris, or Northrend, or different enviroments which led to the various types of people today.
Edit:
Basically there’s no reason for High Elves to undergo real world climate/enviroment engineered diversity, when they were turned white by magic.
