Honestly, i thought about this recently, i think it would be pretty nice, up the bonuses, and make it a major profession.
This way we would also have 10 major professions which is pretty nice.
Realistically if you think about it, what is the big difference between alchemy and cooking? They both provide bonuses, and they are both producing mostly consumables, so why is cooking a minor profession while alchemy a major?
Basically, it doesn’t make sense. As far as I know, cooking is a sideline just because anyone can cook. You don’t just become an alchemist. Plus cooking most things add energy, lives etc. over a period of time whereas alchemy gives the ability to create elixirs that work immediately.
For that reason alone, it makes no sense for cooking to be the main profession. At such a moment you can say that fishing can be the main profession and defacto all other secondary professions as well. They’re simply supporting professions that you’re not going to use to the maximum level anyway and therefore they’re not the main profession. You’ll use alchemy a lot.
I think fishing and cooking should become account bound like pet battles.
Does anyone enjoy fishing or cooking enough that they actually want to do it two (or six) times?
It’s not that you have to study chemistry, but understanding the science behind cooking does help a lot.
But anyway the reason why i said that cooking should become a major profession is not really because of that, if we applied that thought process then fishing should also become a major profession, but there is a big difference.
Fishing only provides you with reagents which are generally used for cooking, while cooking is similar to alchemy in what it actually provides.
