I really feel like this expansion has given Hunters too much defensive utility, having access to double wall, heal, pet sac, turtle, feign death, in addition to 2 stuns, scatter, trap, knockbacks.
i just feel like the spec has gone through one of those redesigns where the general class has been given too much and could really use a prune bat?

survival / bm need to lose diamond ice so they cant confirm all of their go considering they’re solo ccing people for 9+ seconds and the best thing you can do to avoid it is hope you have some form of immunity you can toss out on the initial CC , assuming they botch it.
They cant cause black arrow shoots serpent sting and it shoots at traped targets , so it makes trap useless unless you play diamond ice
traps are the only CC in the game that has a skill to land
bad hunters miss traps all the time
they will never nerf traps

its like arguing doing DB into ring of frost or sheep takes skill, sure DB and ring of frost can both in theory miss, but the odds are all the same as a trap missing. Theres things you can do which secures / confirms the trap and or ring of frost etc. Even then if they miss they can still confirm 7-8 seconds of CC doing silence, pet stun scatter shot and that doesn’t require set up other than applying the poison which needs to rotate through the poisons
also harpoon lunging at somebody into a point blank freezing trap never misses im sorry, you can even macro it to be a mouse over so its almost instant.
What’s so difficult about stunning someone with your pet and 360 no scoping a trap ontop of them
Firstly, pet stun and trap don’t share the same cd, therefore can’t always be used combined.
Secondly, trap is targeted on the ground with a very small reticle, which is very sensitive to positioning and ms
Thirdly, the trap is very falible and tends to fail the target you’re intending to use it on, such as when RDruids have treants, etc.
Lastly, trap can be countereted by stuff like shadow word death, fade, grounding totem, or simply your team mates paying attention their healer and noticing the hunter stunning them, making it very predictable that they’ll follow up with a trap, giving room for your team to react by either standing on top of their healer to eat the trap, or by ccing the hunter at that exact time, giving room for the pet stun to end and the healer moving out - but wait, we’re talking about a meta where 90% of ppl just zug zug, with the reaction capacity of a slug and leave their healers to their own mercy with stuff that could be theoretically preventable.
So ye, Trap is the the cc in the game which requires the most skill to be used properly. That is not even debatable.

requiring another CC to land a trap?
the only reason thats done is because traps are projectiles that can miss.
what i mean is traps are projectiles and have that % to miss ( unles the target is standing still or already in a CC )
The balance…the beauty… You know …the thing…
One class tht have both offensive and defensive is sure of great class tuning.
Being able to delete you in few seconds and at the sme time survive nuclear blast show of a good class tuning.

I dunno its so messed up. I can between cc if I have 0.1 sec get off insta heal, topping player most often.
Whole gameplay have to be scrapped.
Im not enjoying tons of cc, but players just wont die.
one thing at a time, first cc, then instatn casting maybe
and balancing definetly too
dmg/hp might just be bad atm, at least feels bad often lately.

you would be proud of me i got my mage ( having never played it prior to tww to 1800 in 25 games mmr sitting nicely at 2300 )
though on topic, all micro CC should be removed before CC like Traps( traps are literally the hardest to land in the game in comparison to other CC)
imagine if polymorph and fear was a projectile rather than a casted spell… like a trap. people would struggle to land them too
- i like to dabble in every class, done all cloth, mail and plate classes this season to 1800-1900 ish
moving onto leather classes now, starting on rogue
i would be a hypocrite if i didnt experience them in pvp

Wrong expansion bud, you could say this when trap had an activation time. Back then better hunters could land conc shot traps, needed to cover scatter trap with other abilities.
Today, bm hunters with this mobility, petstun, entrapment, binding shot with explo trap to seperate enemies. If you miss trap, you either yolod it completly or are just so bad with your hand eye coordination, that its unreal. While also the fact that as bm you just can with without even trapping a healer once… Just play jungle
Why do ppl come with such arguments, which indicates that the hunter plays alone vs 3 ppl. Hunter has mates too in their team to cover them.
Oh they stand ontop of each other? Priest comes for fear, hunter places binding shot explo trap into freezing trap. Feral maims killtarget and clones off the offtarget running to cath the trap?
But its not even about trap, its about that hunter should and allway was one of the squishier targets, cause of their control and mobility and mostly un peelable damage.
I’d rather want them to lose one of Scatter/Binding Shot.
And Axran to clarify it’s not MM that is a problem right.
