im on a long break from the game and when i try to play, even for a bit, it just feel like a chore.
should i still play, just to keep up ?
Only you can decide on this.
Games are meant to be fun. If itās the opposite of fun, and chores generally are, then no, you should not. Depending on how long youāve been gone, you might want to try a new character for a bit, see if the game has changed for better or worse for you.
If its feeling like a chore, take a long break, wait for the fire to return.
Donāt just make yourself play it.
No, stop playing. Games shouldnāt feel like a chore.
imo no. you wouldnt pay to sweep other peoples floors either or clean their house, would you?
games are meant to be fun and if you re not having fun, i personally would stop playing. yeah there are people who still linger despite not liking the game anymore because they cant let go but thats not healthy and a waste of money.
maybe take another break and come back for shadowlands and see how it works for you then.
yea just stop, if u wanna raid or push high keys, you need to do the chore endlessy. in a way i think its good that game is like this, because only grindy mindset will stay ingame.
You see this game aint build around skills, its built around grind. dosnt matter how good you are, you need AP/essence/corruption. its just a huge big endless grind of a chore. just quit mate seriously. ^^
Classic player here.
Sometimes you have to do the chores, maintenance of your character; you do it so when you take part in the fun things stuff is less likely to go wrong.
Classic actually has less grind. also classic isnt time gated⦠u can farm golds/mats in long session for months to come. in BFA you kinda need to log in on a daily basis and farm AP til next raid tier/expansion. its not a game, its a full-time job, and the worst thing you ARE PAYING FOR IT and not the other way around.
Maybe youāre right, I donāt play. But you know there is still 1.5weeks until the first R14ās show up so Classic is a little time gated;)

Ask yourself why do you play ?
For me itās to enjoy transmogs, character creation and one shooting everything, while reading quest texts and listening to the background music. -
Is it to have the best gear available in game, but everything feels a enormous shore to get there ?
If thatās the case, than probably itās not worth continuing.
Each expansion usually have two phases:
- Leveling to Max level (fun part).
- Leveling ILV gear through multiple patches.
Usually itās at this stage that the game become Grindy and boring.
Maybe the best part of the game for you was leveling, when BFA, was new, if thatās the case than, just do what the other posters above me stated: wait for SL.
For me thereās tons of reasons to continue to play, thatās why I continue.
Giving up is not a option, since I already did it in June 2007 due to stop playing with my RL friend.
Played through multiple periods of free trial, one month in MoP, only came back when Legion launched.
BFA is actually the first expansion I am playing continuously, after TBC (unfortunately, since itās the very first one I hated the story as hell).
All I can say is: it feels like you left your homework for 12 years and now you have to catch up.
To be honest when people complain about lack of content, I find myself in the opposite end.
Thereās tons of things to do that at some point you feel like not wanting to do them.
Itās like cleaning your house.
You donāt want to do it, but you have to do it.
I want to get my characters at a decent ILV I can be happy about it before, going back to explore what I didnāt had time to play for 12 years.
In fact I would probably need another 12 years just to finish what I have in mind at my current rate.
I hope that helped.
Cheers.
yea if u miss a day ur setback, miss more days and u will never ever recover.
For rep its not that big deal in itself.
but sadly there is artifact power as well, it increases your chars power endlessly. once you start to reach a certain high level and will take weeks only for 1 lvl. so for every world quest ur missing by that day is a huge loss!!. and add that world quest is doing the same thing over and over again. for years!!! your brain gonna shrink, ur personality will be lost, you gonna develop Stockholm syndrome. and agree with every little thing blizzard does. its a sad story
Well that kind of reminds me of those free/cheap games where you do a few activities and then run out of āenergyā or whatever and can pay to get some more.
I donāt know about AP but with factions, I know how important the rewards are! So I guess missing time on Rep has no catchup?
I liked gaining rep when I played WoW in TBC and Wrath as you had quite a bit of freedom, even if there was BiS choices.
I look at what iām getting from the grind. If I donāt have fun during the grind, I atleast know fun will come so it doesnāt bother me.(edit: I guess thatās an advantage of basically replaying a game I knew I liked:p)
Agree.
Everytime I open a loot box it makes me remind of Overwatch loot boxes.
Itās almost like the monetization mechanics are already in place.
- RNG.
- Loot Boxes.
- Items to improve your RNG chance.
The only thing itās missing is charging for them.
I hope I am wrong.
Cheers.
Stop doing anything that feels like a chore. If you are still finding you do something in this game, keep playing.
I stopped basically all relevant end game content and still found stuff to do so I play.
Itās crazy to pay instead of getting payed for a second job so I quitted retail a few months ago.
⦠then call it a day.
A game should feel, above all, fun.
Iāve played lietrally thousands of games over the years and I hold the same philosophy for all of them.
When I have squeezed every last bit of fun out if it itās time to let it go⦠LET IT GO!!! (goddamm my grand daughers and that flippin dvd,)
WoW is no different. if you aināt enjoyin it⦠let it go⦠LET IT GO!!! (screams)
If you dont enjoy it, why continue playing
There really is no point to play something when you are not having fun. InstallnSteam, find some game there you are actually having fun playing, and enjoy. When it gets dull, find the next one, and the next. There are so many of them.
