Should I take day off for early access first day?

Those kinds of things they usually fix in reasonable time.

But it’s all part of the fun. We all got on the airship to take us to the Dragon Isles, it left, we got disconnected and were still on Kalimdor :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

I’d say yes. You don’t need me to tell you that launch days can be a bit messy, and you don’t need me to tell you that recent expansion launches haven’t been nearly as messy as some people make them out to be. Personally I expect a fairly smooth launch experience.
It’s an event, especially if you plan on spending it on discord with friends, sharing the excitement, talking about the new content and so on. Even small inconveniences can turn into a fond memory.

I got early access but booked the 27th off work. So i got from when i finish friday till Tuesday evening :muscle:

I didn’t lol
The ship never came for us, we were crowding the docks discussing what might have happened to the cursed thing. The air was full of bubbles saying “hey stop poking me”, “we apologise for the delay” and other nonsense.
In the end they spawned a portal on the dock.
Missing the first ship to the Dragon Isles sucked, but I don’t regret it, it was absolutely hilarious.

I honestly don’t think it’s worth it. I prefer using my days off for other, more interesting IRL stuff than playing games. There will be enough time to play the game in the next 1.5/2 years anyway.

Also it’s not guaranteed that the game will run smoothly, so you risk to take time off for basically nothing.

But that’s me and my opinion. :eyes: Have fun whatever you will decide in the end!

Hot take: Taking a day, or longer, off for a game/WoW expansion release day is “something proper” to some of us.

For the OP:
I actually think it will be playable as not everyone has bought the edition including early access, though probably a lot of people but not all of the playerbase did, and thus servers will not be hit that hard.
And DF launch was already pretty smooth without big connection issues, besides the boat bugging out. But that got fixed relatively fast with by placing a functioning portal toi the Dragon Isles.
So, depending how few days of leave you got left and how much stuff you’ve got going on in your RL, you have to decide for yourself if it is worth the minor risk of issues.
It really is probably going to run mostly fine day one, really shouldn’t be TO many people.

OP asked for opinions. Opinions were given. Not everyone has to agree with everything and that’s ok. :slightly_smiling_face:

The ships just wouldn’t work for us. They either disconnected us, or ditched us all when moving off. Or just plain stopped spawning. We were all in the same boat, so to speak.

So they made it a teleport by talking to the NPC so we could start levelling.

I’m one of us.
But there are other things in life that require days off work which are more important than a game.

Why would u do that? I never took a day off to play, even DF didnt had any major flaws some dc’s but nor really outtages of the server. I need to work thursday night will come home Friday morning then i will play. And most people are going to bed by then so win=win less people in the zones.

I only have 7 days off when the new m+ season starts so, there still will be bugs am sure of it but i dont mind really.

I wouldn’t recommend it, mostly because it’s too unpredictable and if you’re really excited and got your whole setup (i.e. Food, drinks, reserved comfy time notifying everyone you’re not going to be available) and then you experience one or more of these symptoms…

  • Try to login only to be meet with a server queue telling you it’ll be 3 hours because everyone is trying to login at the exact same time and you didn’t login before the launch time

  • You are logged in but then booted out and end up with the above

  • Maybe the game doesn’t work at all, server crashes/boots you out/can’t get back in

  • Experience some bugs/quests not activating/can’t get where you need to go/won’t load

  • EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE, will be doing the same thing as you will be do, which it means me like the crowds at Disneyland on a hot summer day, where you can hardly get around or move without everything being dead/being done

  • If you have warmode on for the extra XP/rep boost gains, this can mean some ganking/abuse by ppl who are grouped together/playing really good world PvP classes/just have a healer. These guys will also come back on the 26 to ruin everybody’s day

However, if you really don’t mind the destination and really want to enjoy the journey, these things might not bother you too much. They don’t really bother me too much, but I wouldn’t sacrifice for it, if I had something better to do, personally, and I’ve been playing since Vanilla.

All a personal choice though. I just think launch day is risky, from experience and if you really want a better chance at enjoying a full day and you had to choose, I’d recommend the following day of early release. So, by the time, they’ve figured out the bugs. But if you costs you nothing but time and that time isn’t very important to you, then go ahead. Expect the worse, so that when things don’t go that bad it doesn’t feel too bad if things aren’t smooth as butter on launch day/hour.

haha no does not metter unless u play 1 top guild world race then it metter till then metter littel

You should not IMO.

First because im 100% sure there are still bugs and server issues to be solved. As in every expansion since 2007. Even with better technology.

And seccond because the 1st few days are absolutely horrible to play. Its not fun to quest with literally 1000 people at the same time. Its fun to play with others that for sure, but the ammount of people at launch is just too much.

I usually wait 4-5 days before I even log into wow.

If you’ve got spare holidays or toil banked, sure why not? If not, maybe save what you have. Or if you have a job/class/day/whatever where you can blag your way through the next day on half beam, pull an all-nighter and save your holiday!

I wouldn’t do it on launch day, there will be lag, disconnections and too many people.
There is no rush, it is better to wait and play peacefully. Enjoy the new stuff and take your time. And if you want a whole day, I would take a day next week when everything is a little more stable.

I wouldnt  Probably numerous " Server Shutdown" messages will appear, bugs etc…wait times, etc

Wasnt that the time they added like ship timers for the first time and it was mega late.

I set aside my free days specifically for EA.

Tomorrow is my last day at work for the week. Then I have all the time I want for the EA. I even can get a haircut before playing.
