Should warriors smash our Feral dps?

I often do much more dps than people around my ilvl or even higher, I just did a dungeon with 2 warriors, one was ilvl 440, but the other was 405, I’m 403. He did 19k dps more than me over the entire dungeon, and beat me on almost every single pack/boss even when I was using incarnation CD. It seems all him damage was from rampage and execute, but that’s an insane amount of damage difference to feral.

I bet if I checked your damage breakdown, your Rampant Ferocity has almost done negligible damage and that’s assuming you are running the talent at all.

If I am correct, then that means your rotation is fundamentally flawed on mid to high density packs.

I’m using the Icyveins Mythic+ build. It does not include Rampant Ferocity. But this was the best build given.

I would give you my build, but well can’t log onto the game it seems :joy_cat:

I don’t like this new talent tree system i’ve come to realize, it’s either follow the exact same guide as everyone else for top dmg, theres no real choice just the illusion of it for each type of content. I’d rather just have it like FFXIV, one set class no choice, everyone is same, now devs can actually balance the same and all dps can be almost identical number slike in ffxiv.

I was an advocate of this new talent system when we had the cata system as far as SL. But now after using it for an expansion, I realize that if this is the best a system like this can do, I would much rather have the old one back.

I miss having most of my utility baseline. Not being able to decurse or bash because I need to allocate that talent point to matted fur just to stay alive, sucks. Ik a lot of people will disagree with me, but in my opinion, I think classes had way more complexity with the old system as more spells were baseline. Now we’re forced to trade those niche abilities for passives that you don’t play around at all. They are complimentary to already existing abilities

The other part is, as you said, illusion of choice. Feral is especially in a weird state with talents. If you check different feral players, you’ll notice each one has different micro-choices. Some are running x2 carnivorous instinct, some 1 and some none. Some run rampant ferocity, some don’t. Some run omen of clarity, some run tear open wounds, etc. All of these being high ranking players. So it’s really hard to say, “oh yep, this is the right build” because literally ppl are running the most random talents. Some might say it’s a good thing. For me personally, it’s a headache. I’m not a theorycrafter, it doesn’t interest me. I’m simply a CE raider and I want the best build and this makes it really difficult to discern what is good and what is actually good.

Considering the variety of different builds played even in high keys (25+) this is clearly not true. There are many talents to mix-and-match, including FF, MoC, BT/LS, DCR, SA, TfB… The most popular builds are incredibly varied.

Anyway, the answer to your question is ‘yes’. At the level of keys you’re doing, where trash dies quickly and pull sizes are small, classes that deal all their damage instantly (like warriors) will beat DoT-based classes (like druids). Even though feral has more upfront AOE damage now than it used to (in ToW and RF), the bleeds still need to tick for their full duration to ‘catch up’ with the instant damage classes.

Once you get to around +20 keys and up, it evens out a bit, but below that, any DoT-based specs, or specs that need to ‘ramp’ before delivering their full damage potential, will lag behind.

Warrior has another damage profile than Feral. Feral shines when you have lot of targets that don’t die too fast.

The god kitty (can be any druid) says (but its nap time and Aellas should post for me) that you need a group with a clue (its never a feral druids fault) that will stack enough mobs for maximum dps output.
