DF was revealed in april 2022, so quite early in the year, and was released almost a year ago. With blizzcon taking place this year in November, would it be too early for them to reveal the next expansion?
Sure we might have still 1 year of DF before us, but asuming they will announce the next expansion at a major blizz event like blizzcon it means they have to announce it this year, or am I looking at this wrong?
I’d say 50/50 chance, on one hand we still have stuff coming for DF, but on the other hand, they could use something big to wow people (Pun not intended, but i’m leaving it in), and there’s not much else to talk about…
It’s usually 2 years between each expansion and they announce the next one a year after launch so I’d be surprised if they didn’t announce it there. 10.2 is playable at Blizzcon this year, so if they’re waiting a bit longer to release it (like a couple weeks after) then yeah, major news should be the expansion.
The next expansion is well underway. Bliz know what it’s about and have done for some time. They like know what the expansion after that will be about.
I’d be surprised if there wasn’t major hints or clues to it’s themes, locations and characters. Even if they haven’t decided on a Name yet or ironed out all the details for all its features.
I hope for a more dark theme. I’m sick of all these vibrant colors. Maybe something related to the afterlife or something, like wrath but even darker. more spikes! Less dragons.
I want to be the one and only hero again.
Oh and maybe they could add something like a roguelike dungeon, something that can be repeated for cosmetics. That would be awesome.
Before I saw what 10.2 was about I’d say you were right, but now? 10.2 literally takes place in the emerald dream so I doubt blizz would double dip in that regard.
Guldan from WoD into legion = double dipping
Wrath = Shadowlands = double dipping
they generally always double dip from story lines
like how the world tree is from shadowlands and now its in DF… no doubt its meant to follow on too the next expac which would require us to retrieve it from the emerald dream to plant it in azeroth
Eh who knows, you’re right. Could be yeah.
Personally I just don’t think there’s enough to the Emerald Dream to warrant a full expansion. It’s supposedly just one big lush zone full of druid stuff. I think thats why we’re only getting it as part of something else, like now in 10.2 or like Emerald Nightmare in Legion.
Again: I could be wrong, but that’s just what my gut tells me.
in the lore and across the expacs , the Emerald dream has been in the game since Vanilla with world bosses ( dragon portals )
legion with the nightmare
and now again in Dragonflight
i think it isnt too much to say that a FULL blown expac would be on its way . for the emerald dream . seeing as we have tampered with it across 3 expacs in minor patchs
With the first Blizzcon back after a few year, I would expect a big announcement of some sort.
I can’t see them announcing Diablo 5 or Overwatch 3 anytime soon, so I suspect there will be something in the mists ready to be announced.
Historically, WoW Expansions have been announced at Blizzcon. But then, WoW isn’t as big of a game as it was last time there was a Blizzcon. So either they’re planning a huge surprise for WoW or they have something else up their sleeves.
I have to admit, the April announcement of Dragonflight felt alot more comfortable than an earlier announcement. But we’ll see if that’s a new path Blizzard want to take.
I think there will be alot of disappointment if there isn’t an expansion announcement.
I mean yes 100% chance. 10.2 is looming this expansion wont go for longer than 4 seasons at max, and the 4th season being similar to SL s4.
Its the 10th expansion, 20th anniversary and 30th for blizzard, if they dont announce anything big for WoW the game is prob dead. Like someone here stated, diablo 5 and OW 3 wont be announced for many years. Reports of the survival game is still as vague as ever and prob wont be released within 2 years.
Hots, Starcraft is dead and hearthstone is dying, theres nothing to announce there, also we havent had a blizzcon for sometime, would be very surprised if they made a big deal out of it and then didnt show anything of substance at all.
The only chance they get away with not revealing the next expansion this blizzcon is if they announce classic+, and with that they prob kill off retail and focus on classic+.
as i read the article about it , it was to make the team more cost effective / efficient ?
some times you dont need 5 people doing the same job, when 3 can do it just fine
i know in my work place, we have the same " jobs worth " people, that clearly are not needed.
