Riot recently launched their show ‘Arcane’ on Netflix, it’s a story about two champions from the game. WoW peaked many years ago and there may not be as much interest in the story as there was previously. But at the same time Warcraft/WoW have some iconic stories and characters that could be adapted into a small series. They have an extensive back catalogue of content, far more than LoL, to choose from.

they got a movie thingy, production is just slow. i rather have movies than series, series tends to be 20 min dull and 5 min of hype before end of an episode

Potential is there but too scared to want it to happen by this point, Blizzard writers have a horrible habit of introducing characters and just doing nothing with most of them at all.
The WC film bombed, those that would have watched it left the franchise long ago…
WC is a rip off of pretty much everything; there’s nothing original in it. If movie goers want orcs and humans fighting they’ll watch Lord of the Rings.

WoW no. Mainly due to us players being part of the lore. So either they would have to go along with calling these characters “rogue”, “warrior”, “hunter” etc or its gonna be a canon nightmare. Not to mention the demonstration of said players. We arent exactly something you want to present in a series given our behavior.
They can made up names.
I think it would be a success if they did a chronology series thing of the lore (at least major events), and maybe even a series thing of “your character” with focus on “lesser lore stuff” such as the Duskwood quests which are awesome!
But then those people would be “canon”. Unless they declare said names to non-canon and only there to make the show feel more smooth.
They had a diablo series planned 2 years ago, seems to be off the table now though.
Gotta say I hate league of legends with a passion. The series though, best animation I’ve seen by a mile. The story and art work is out of this world. Made me angry watching it, thinking how has blizzard not done anything like this.
From a business perspective you’d be crazy not to. Make a huge profit off the series, will have loads of views with 20+ years of warcraft players. And it can get more people back in to the franchise. You literally get payed to market your own game, instead of making a small money off views. You’ll get extra people buying the game, subs, cash shop items etc. It’s a double win.
They cant write a decent game, and the movie was unpopular. What makes you think a tv show will do well?
Agree, I think Riot are trying their best to raise their brand awareness, and build up other streams of revenue. Currently their only cash cow is LoL, it’s a good approach to take. I do feel Blizz may have missed the boat as WoW isn’t as popular as it was years ago, regardless they have a lot of great source material to make it work.
We’re not part of the lore-proper - any significant thing get attributed to lore characters.
Not necessarily Blizzard work at a glacial pace so there could still be one.
Diablo Immortal and Diablo 4 are no where near finished so they would delay a possible series closer to a release date.

They’ve been milking their franchises, and goodwill, dry of any remaining profit. Before long, Blizzard will be dissolved and the remaining employees will be offered the chance of a job at Activision. Investing into it now would be a massive financial blunder.
They do? I thought they gave up on that after the disaster that was the 2016 movie. I mean that was pretty good but Garona messed it up so bad. Remove her and it might’ve been great.
I would love an animated series on Netflix that was WoW based. Arcane has been great so far.
They could but if Danuser writes it, it’ll have fanfic quality writing with a few extra sprinkes of retcons. I’d like to see something similar one day but as long as he and the current writing squad are kept far far away from it.

Back in the old days, when WoW was made to be a good game instead of low effort money grab, ppl loved the game and made tons of various movies like Tales of the Past series. Its probably better to watch these, if you are interested in such content, because nowadays Blizzard would make just another money grab garbage…
