Shouldn't all rep on your characters add up when it gets account-wide?

Dear Blizz, why?

If I have understood the way reputations will work in The War Within and forward (source linked below), it is only the reputation from the character with the highest reputation-points with a rep that will become account-wide.
So for example if I am Revered with a Legacy rep on my main character and Honored with an alt when the Legacy rep becomes account-wide (sometime in the future), then all my characters will be Revered.

Isn’t that like you are deleting something we have earned with our precious time we chose to spend in your game? Am I the only one to feel this way? Why don’t you just add up the reputation-points we have earned from all characters and let the sum become the new account-wide rep?

The only counterargument against adding up all the rep from the account, that I can come up with, is that it might be harder to program. Now I’m no game developer, but I have a hard time imagining it is harder to program a computer to preform simple addition than to program it to figure out which character has the most rep within a faction and changing that to the one every character on an account have.

To conclude this post I think you are changing WoW in great ways on many fronts, like making reputation account-wide. In this case however it is like you aren’t going the whole way, and aren’t making reputation properly account-wide. At least to a little perfectionist like me it is very nagging, so my only question is WHY?!

Iirc it was for it to be fair to both people who play a lot of characters and people who only play one or a few. People with a lot of characters would instantly max out reputations while people with less wouldn’t.

Make daily/weekly rep rewards once per account instead of per character.

Wait what :flushed:
… so are you saying there is no point me grinding to exalted on the Remix chars as it won’t eventually count - there were 3 reps that I didn’t quite finish in the original expansion at the time so have been working on them in Remix … ( just got exalted on the Sunreavers an hour ago)

Duplicate reputations won’t matter, only the highest one will. So if one character has Exalted, everyone that has less is irrelevant. If a highest reputation is Revered, Honoured and lower won’t matter. Etc.

Never mind I just read the post above. So my mage who is exalted with all factions will transfer to all my alts.

Meaning all those that have less or none will become exalted with those factions. That is how I understand it.

Yea I got a bit worried. Then I saw his post above so edited it

Well, so far Shared Reputation will only be some of the DF Reps and the new TWW reputations. Everything from Expansions before that will still be seperate, for now at least.

If I have 20 chars with one lvl in the rep each, the base amount in case of Df, and the max is 20, I’ll automatically get 20 lvls I didn’t work for, that’s my only idea

The bit of info I was looking for. Thanks.

Yes, thank you. In the latest expansion (War Within) I would agree with you Fullsocks, that it would be unfair unless Bizzard changed the daily/weekly rep rewards like Frizzle says; but does it really matter that much if one can speed lvl rep with many characters in Legacy reputation?

Also not to make players feel forced to level a full rosther of characters to maximize their rep intake and then burn themselves out and leave nasty messages and criticism because they chose to play the game in the worst way you can play it possible.

Fair enough, with renown reps in DF it wouldn’t be that easy, but their is still a certain amount of reputation points one needs to get from renown 1 (0 rep) to the highest renown. Couldn’t all the rep from characters whom have actually progressed along the renown track add up?
