Shouldnt post WotLK Undeads hate Sylvanas?

I mean… before WotLK, it was fine, she wasnt responsible fpr their curse, she just took advantage of those who regained free will.

I dont think she ever meant well or cared for them, but she didnt activly hurt them either…

Post WotLK Undeads are a different story, because now its Sylvanas who is putting the curse of being undead on them. For a pretty selfish reason if I might add that…

It also really changes the “You can walk away if you want” argument. Before it was “Yeah, you are free now, but you are undead in a world that hates you, stay with us and we protect you.” while now it is: “Yeah we cursed you for all eternity, if you dont like it, there is the door, go live your cursed life we forced upon you!”

And that doesnt even include Sylvanas knowing just to well that she dooms every new undead to hell if they ever die… Sure, they dont know yet, but Sylvanas knows. And I bet all my gold she wont care to sacrifice any Valkyrs to briong back any of the souls she doomed…

I mean, if we made a real life example of this, it would kinda be like if there was an island out there full of dealdy poisonous animals that really like to kill humans, and I would have gone there to make a plantation, which was save and none of these animals could enter, and then I said to the locals “Look, you can work for me, and if you do, you can stay on my plantation and be safe. I wont force you, but only those who work for me may move to my plantation.” Thats basically pre WotLK.

So now its post WotLK, and I start kidnapping people from other placed of the world and bringing them to the island. After that I tell them “You can work for me and stay on my safe plantation, or you can get lost and try your luck on the Island!”

Before WotLK it was just “they are arrows in my quivers”, now they are more like “bulwark against the Void”, also considering the Void whispers of Alleria looked quite afraid by Sylvanas. So she definitely will have a twist of some sort about Void and Undeath toward the end of BfA, she’s not going down simply as Garrosh did and I think this was recently confirmed by Blizzard.

Hmmm…is that confirmed though?

Its the reason Sylvanas is so terrified of death…

She went to that void/hell because she’s evil…but what if an undead with free will doesn’t act in an evil way? I don’t think they are dommed from the start actually

Hmmm… ok, that would be something that Blizzard should answer. My opinion is that since the undeads are abominations and already defy the laws of death, their soules, assuming that Undeads actually have a soul left, are tainted from the moment they become undead.

They indeed have a soul still, but it’s twisted and corrupted by necromantic (shadow) magic.

Also Anduin and others raised Calia as a Light-forged holy undead too so that could be debatable as well, although the Light clearly take the place over necromancy in this case.

Hmmm… thats pretty interesting, but I have to admit, that I would have to read the novel that she dies in. My last knowledge of her was that she was alive and well in Legion.

Not sure how the Light and undeads work out… Isnt the power behind the light one with its own realm in the afterlife? That could mean if the light decided to let someone return, it would be something different… But again, thats pure
hypothetically.

I hope that Blizzard is going to explain how the Warcraft Afterlife works at some point, normaly I would say its good that its all mysterious, but in case of the undeads, a answer could make or break the spirit of the whole race…

Would be a possibility, but that wouldnt explain all the mindless zombies running around. And after all, in the UD starting zone, there are many undeads who hate what they became but still cant just “return”.

I huess the Mindless Zombies that run of end up with the ones we have to kill in one of the first missions.

They did. In Before the Storm.

They all talk about how when they finally die, they’ll simply reunite with the rest of their families that perished without turning.

Reunited with their loved ones with their True Death.

Nope. At first they are shocked but eventually most cope with it. More of how forsaken seem to “feel” is described here with quotes from the last book and from the starting area.

What if everyone that dies afflicted by undead ends there. What if anyone goes there.

To the other comment:

What would have happened with no raising? From a culture perspective they would have died out. No procreation, battles without end. So is it wrong for them to take the option of keeping their culture “alive”? On the other hand, do they enjoy thier existence? They must be a little bit or else they could just suicide

Warcraft’s creation rules are not absolute. Become powerful enough - or join the right people - and you might avoid or even conquer whatever hell you’re bound for. Also, a living man’s curse is a deadman’s second chance. Only those with poor imagination think they’d enjoy an eternity with their loved ones.

If only there was some sort of a way to express their own opinion. Some form of free will, if I can put it so brazenly…

Herecy, I know.

Free will means, that you willingly join Sylvanas.

Valkyres are asking if person wants to be raised. So, no. Few just going mad before giving answer, that happens

Well, Sylvanas has never actually been depicted as the most gentle and kind of individuals, has she?

She seemed to be of a rather harsh attitude even as a High Elf when we encountered her during the invasion of Quel’thalas.

When she broke free she proceeded with literal mind control of every individual she could find useful to fight for survival and dominance in the region.

She betrayed her Human allies and probably just butchered them all.

During Vanilla she held living people hostage in order to have experiments being conducted upon them.

I think she also had experiments being conducted upon her own Forsaken.

Actively sought destruction of the living e.g. in Hilsbrad.

And that’s all without mentioning all of her “more prominent” actions later.

What I am trying to say, we probably should just stop trying to find any moral reasons for her actions. Obviously it is beneficial for a regime to spread propaganda that said regime is a paradise

As for the Forsaken themselves… Your guess is as good as mine. Undeath changes people’s minds, I guess.

Not all of the Forsaken agree with her after all. I guess that Desolate Council’s members didn’t want to have anything to do with her.

Arthas asked me if I wanted to join him in saving Azeroth in return for a power beyond my wildest imaginings and I agreed so he raised me as his ultimate weapon.

Being an immortal killing machine of untold power and helping save Azeroth by bestowing the gift of undeath to everyone is something every good undead should aspire to be.

Even the lesser undead like the Forsaken are starting to see the bigger picture.
