So, the new Sidereal Essences in my opinion one of the best additions to the game so far. It a very nice way of implementing bad luck protection, however i few some ideas about the drop rate of the essences.
For context, i play on one of the smaller realms, as a result the ammount of groups within my guild and within the server as a whole clearing 9/9 Hard Modesa consistently is fairly low, the accesibility of these items especially on alts (even if you’re a skilled player) is decently difficult.
The sidereal Essences really solve this issue of the accesibility, but not as much as i had hoped. I personally play 5 and soon 6 characters which i all enjoy, and sometimes i play one more than another and then other time i play the other more.
In order for me to be able to raid my character need gear, people require gear logically so, Gearscore requirements are a very good example of this. I can see a potential issue comming up for those of us with more than 1 or 2 characters within the greater community that will not allow us to play the character we love because of this new system.
Even though this system makes hard modes items more accesible, this also means that people will be expecting you to get these items for your characters, i made a little overview and excluding the OS on my tank and healer character i will be needing over 600 Sidereal essences (1000 including the OS which you sometimes need to flex in raids etc).
Do the math 600 essences is 600 dungeons meaning 6 dungeons on avg every day for 100 day. Now of course the argument of: “you dont HAVE to get all the bis pieces” is very easy to counter my idea, but i have a feeling these items will become a requirement by raid leaders in pugs even on my smaller server purely because its available on a vendor and RNG isnt in your way, I think it falls under the same mentality of: “you could have gotten X item from a dungeon, so why would i pass because it would be a bigger upgrade for you”
My idea would be simple, reward people for killinc HC++ bosses and reward them 1 sidereal essence just like Badges. The way i see HC++ and the sidereal essences is a way of keeping up with the content so you can raid current content without having to clear previous content. Those who only need 1or 2 items will be farming their dungeons in 3/4 days anyway and never look back, but those of us who have a few Naxx and Ulduar pieces will be spending Weeks if not months to have enough gear so meet the ever increasing gear score requirement.
