WoW isn’t an Esports. Who even watches Mythic + streams?

I really had to double-check that title three or four times to see if they actually used the word “esports” for the Mythic Dungeon Invitational. Seriously? That’s not an esport. It never has been, and it never will be.

I was going to say something about the person responsible for writing these articles, but I’ll keep those thoughts to myself. I don’t want to end up suspended from the forums again.

But I’ll tell you what: if they really wanted to make this more entertaining to watch, they should add one simple rule for both the Mythic Dungeon Invitational and the Arena World Championship—no add-ons or WeakAuras allowed . Players should only be able to use the baseline game interface.

Then we would see who is actually good at the game and who just relies on add-ons to do the work for them.

It’s bad enough you ruined the game by trying to make it competitive and shoe in esports, but the fact that you won’t let this die is just cruel at this point

It’s really upsetting wanting to do the dungeons, only to be told that I need X and Y addons in order to do it “Optimally”.

I’m not only too lazy to get the addons, I also don’t believe I should have to rely on them.

tbh…

i watch the AWC , as its way more fun to watch than the MDI

i just wish they could spend more time developing PvP , it could be a great version of WoW but its neglected.

#REMOVE PREMADES FROM CASUAL PVP

The reliance on addons to complete content is a significant problem in World of Warcraft. Take the current raiding scene, for example. To participate in any serious raiding, you essentially must have BigWigs or Deadly Boss Mods. Without them, you’ll likely end up dead on the floor every time.

This is a problem of Blizzard’s own making. They’ve designed encounters with so many mechanics that are impossible to track visually—sudden, telegraphed abilities, complex timers, and percentage-based events—that players are forced to rely on addons to interpret the fight. The game doesn’t give you the tools to confirm when something is about to happen, so a third-party program has to do it for you.

This is why I was so happy to hear about their plans to restrict the data addons can access. It’s not about making fights easier; it’s about making them legible. I want to be able to learn and progress as a player by understanding the boss’s tells and patterns, not by having an addon coach scream at me to “MOVE LEFT!” or “MOVE RIGHT!” in the middle of a chaotic fight. Where is the skill in that? It reduces gameplay to just following commands.

This dependency on addons extends beyond raids. Look at Mythic+, where Raider IO is practically mandatory to get into higher-level groups. Your in-game score and accomplishments aren’t enough; you need a third-party system to vouch for you.

It’s ridiculous. Needing 5-6 “mandatory” addons just to play the game optimally is a clear sign that core game systems are failing. The game should provide us with the necessary information to succeed, not outsource that responsibility to modders.

Kinda why I really enjoyed FF14 and the group content there.
It was both tough and easy to read with the telegraphed attacks. All without needing an addon to tell you what to do or where to move.

If there is anything Blizzard ought to copy, it’s the way they do mechanics there. At least then it’d be fun to do the raiding and not needing addons for it.

Yeah, I enjoy the raids/large dungeons in other MMOs, as you don’t need several windows on your screen telling you what to do.

You dont. They help but theyre not essential

Everybody will win if you make buffs and debuffs LESS.
If you remove these idiotic buffs on your target frame that tell you John level 80 warrior, has 1231231232 buffs and will overflow my overries if he nears me but he also takes 30% increase reputation with Dornagal today and he wears a “Cool” shirt.
Like what is this ? Why do I need to know this?
If you could make mechanics LESS absurd.
Not all classes have to have the ZOOMIES.
Not all classes have to have interrupts.
Not all classes have tohave IMMUNITIES.
Give people a reason to explore other classes and specs, things were unique back in the day.
Bring back difficult leveling, people cant learn their class and leveling used to be a perfect oportunity to do that.
it will bring back MORE engagement as a whole throughout the bracket and less trollnig in Mythic + and PvP.
Will result in the game being MORE comprehensive and more ENJOYABLE.
Which will lead to MORE participation in the game and in the AWC and
MORE profit.
Currently the only thing thats stopping people from engaging with your content is the overstimuly.
Along with the absurd storytelling but since its a game this post is specifically directed at the devs.
Life is already overstimulating and exhausting, games were supposed to be an ESCAPE yet I need PHD to play a single class in WoW and effectively you’re punishing your players. The only ones left are the masochists.
I feel like you forgot that games are supposed to be FUN!
(I know nobody makes me play WoW. Its just what i believe will make the game better for everyone overall.)
