It was planed for bfa and never made it until now so its no wonder it just feels like one of these generic islands we get every addon they didn’t even bother to make a new one for us.
Onlything i like so far is to see naga again i like them
Why should anyone try to?
You can think what you want.
Yes, it definitely feels like it has similarities. But it also seems like there’s a very different gameplay loop than Forbidden Reach had. So, I’m keeping an open mind.
I find this a disturbing comment if its true. I mean to me it feels like buying a new expansion and expecting new things only to be given stuff I paid for from an expansion where it was cut from. I feel exactly the same way about these regurgitated dungeons from past expansions being thrown back into the M+ pool.
I then also have to ask what the island and it’s theme have to do with TWW then. How do they suddenly fit in to the story or they just thrown in there to shut players up with an attitude of “Here you go. More content for you. Now stop complaining , jump on the hamster wheel fly in circels killing elites (and I wish ppl would stop calling them rare because they are NOT!) and go play”.
I just hope that the activities around the ring are not as lame and boring as that vault in forbidden reach.
I have even seen screenshots from the time it was supposed to be bfa content. There where ofcourse many azerite kristals and stuff and they just switched it for like golden yellow kristals.
But i am sure they they will have a good enough story to tie the island in the story. Most of thoses island had no real connection to the main content.
Timeles isles could be in any addon if you switch the mops on the island. Mechagon could be part of any addon too even without changing anything.
For me it would be far more convincing if the 3 factions on the isle where touched on in season 1 with a side quest where either Xalatath or even one of henchmen recruit them. A short quest chain would make it far more believable and acceptable.
The only BFA reference, for me at least, is the titan console.
I disagree. Timeless Isle was the first and everything on the TI tied into MoP. Mechagon was exactly that a side story and activity that tied into the island. Even the story of the island tied into the mega dungeon. It made sense why it was there.
It’s a mesh between Island Expeditions, Forbidden Reach and Zaralek Caverns…
My thoughts of it: MEH!
I absolutely hated IE as a collector. Literally took me at least half a year before I saw a chance of the Anubian Carapace to drop because of its multitudes of RNG [enemy type, the island, phenomena, if Rare was up and drop rate itself]… ffffffff that.
I think it’s pretty obvious that the WoW story basically goes Legion → Battle for Azeroth → The War Within.
Shadowlands and Dragonflight are pure fillers.
So if you see The War Within as a continuation of Battle for Azeroth, then it’s less weird that there are Naga on the island, or that it’s an island at all.
Yeah it’s an island initially intended for Battle for Azeroth, but I think it can kind of work if you forget you’ve played Shadowlands and Dragonflight. Contextually it fits better then, even if it is being repurposed for The War Within.
In terms of gameplay it sounds like something we’ve seen before. Lots of stuff for collectors to collect and spend a lot of time on. And for everyone else the ring is a power boost that helps players complete their seasonal goals and get some easy progression at the tail end of the season. And then the ring will of course quickly be invalid in 11.1.
Story wise I don’t expect much. It’s a gameplay island. There’ll be some more mysteries to indulge in, but this isn’t where Xal’atath makes her evil return or anything.
It’s not that I object to more content… it’s that I’m worried that the ring will be a significant power spike, thereby making the whole affair mandatory for anyone who cares about that sort of thing.
I already have enough to do in game. Don’t really want to also have to find 1-2 hours per week per character for chores. That just makes me think of Korthia and Torghast
Not to mention the obvious worry that the rapid patch cadence is just going to result in a half-finished event that isn’t actually any fun. Which is actually an even bigger worry. The 10.0.5 vault was kind of fun, imo, but I don’t want an undercooked version full of bugs, repetition, and annoyances. If it isn’t a good experience, I’d rather it not be produced at all and the time be put into 11.1.0.
Happy to be proven wrong on all counts; maybe it will be an interesting, optional thing, in which case I do not mind about the echos of Dragonflight.
It has potential to be this.
But it also could go other ways, too early to say.
The problems with the Forbidden Reach were that you needed a currency to do the main event (the vault thingy) and to get the currency you had to farm rares which meant needing other players to be doing it. This was ok-ish for a few weeks when others were around. But when the critical mass of players dropped then it became a no-go area.
I’ve always hated content that required farming a currency to enter. Horrific Visions neededed a currency to enter so if you mess up then you need to go farm more currency to try again.
I gave up Horrific Visions pretty early. I gave up Forbidden Reach pretty early.
I think I might have enjoyed that vault thingy if I could have just explored it. Found the puzzles and the traps and got some treasures. That could have been fun. But I had to farm keys from a not fun, not solo activity.
So let’s see what the content on this isle is before judging it.
People wil complain preemptively about it all jsut being reused content, even though no matter how long it´s been “sitting around”, it´s still not content we´ve ever seen before, just like Empire Strikes Back wasn´t “reused content” just because the script already existed when a New Hope was released…
and People will bawl their eyes out about the ring being a stupid long and insurmountable grind and making their spec completely useless merely by way of being strong on any other spec.
People will complain about how there is no innovation, nothing new, it´s all just quests, rares and treasures, quests rares and treasures, quests rares and treasures… well, freaking DUH, because it´s a goshdarn fantasy RPG, what tf do you expect, klingons and phasers? Or Superduperelites that take 400 players so nobody ever kills them? Or Sub 1 player Mobs that just kill themselves? Does it matter if the treasure is in a chest, orb, or dirt pile?
And of course the new event can not possibly be good because it´s something blizzard are designing,oh elite mobys in storms are gonna be unkillable yaddayaddablahblah…
And when it finally drops, half of them will gobble it up like free drugs to an addict and then complain that there’s nothing left to do, others will slowly enjoy it like wine an hour or so a day, and yet others will spend 16h /day on teh forums complaining about how this stinks, that sucks, and this was all just a complete waste of time, without having ever actually played any of it.
