I am failing to see what the point of The Siren Isle was when the new zone drops 597 gear !

The point of Siren Isle is that it released months ago in the previous season. Like with everything in the past; it becomes useless.

I get that but why were they so close together ? I just finished gearing up my 12 alts and now it seems I have wasted my time 
Not a waste of time if you’re a collector. Plenty of stuff there if you are.

I meant gearing up my alts only to be replacing it a week later
It was 17th december. It is more than 2 months ago. Blizz is trying to give something new in the middle of the 6 months season.

It took me most of those 2 months to gear my alts and now I need to do it again 
You could have started gearing your alts 6 months ago? Siren isle was rewarding like 580 ilvl veteran gear. It didn’t reward something special.

I could but I only play like 2 or 3 of them so catchup gear is where it’s at for me
Why do you gear chars you do not play?
For the record; 580 veteran gear was not catch up. You could be veteran geared just by buying a full armor set with undercoins. Or those 584 pieces with resonance crystals. Or you could have done some Theaters/turning on flames in hallowfall for the same gear.
Siren isle literally rewarded crap low gear which did not make you play any other endgame content. It took 1 day to get a char to 580 or higher ilvl.
I started my paladin in the week before Christmas and it is now 632 (no i do not mythic raid)… and you see 580 veteran as catch up? 
A delve is even already rewarding champion 603 ilvl…

Imo Siren Isle was useless upon arrival. Gear was just beyond bad if it was meant as a catch up.If not even worse.
Not pretty,barren terain and small too…no flying from the start.
Not something to be proud of either.

Are you new to the game? WoW has been a seasonal game for the last 4 expansions now. Each season renders the previous one relatively useless.
If you reach top level gear by the end of a season, it’s a good headstart for the next one though.
I geared them with the 584 & 597 gear from REP and also the 584 gear from The Siren Isle…
I gear them so they are ready to level in later expansions 
When it is about expansions you better wait till the last season and get 100 ilvl more for less effort.
580-590 gear was even in season 1 very crap. There’s a reason why we all did delves in week 1 before the M+ season even started. We got 610 on our chars even before season 1 started.

I used to be a raider but now I am a filthy casual
I don’t do M+, dungeons or raids but I have done a few delves…can’t play as much as I used to because of wife, kids, job etc.
Burning time to distract you that they didn’t have content ready as they should.
Always said that. Siren is BFA content recycled to act like new content.
Thing is, WoW is seasonal. TWW hasn’t even finished releasing yet. Patch 11.1 just started, and we already know there will be 11.1.5, 11.1.7, 11.2, 11.2.5 and 11.2.7. There will be new zones, a new raid, new dungeons, and higher ilvl gear available as those progress.
Basically you can’t futureproof a character for next expansion until you’re in the last season of the previous expansion.
If all you want to do is be ready for Midnight levelling, then you’re honestly better unsubbing until 11.2.7 is out. Although that would mean you skip over all the content released in the above patches and reduce your overall experience of TWW to a narrow slice. I’m not particularly criticising this, just saying you’ll miss a lot. It’s a choice.
