Hey there
I’ve started reading more and more about the pvp system which will be introduced in SL. So far we have only very few information about it.
According to some sources, the ilvl of the unrated gear will be 175.
As a comparaison the ivl for heroic dungeons will be 170 and the mythic +0 183.
According to the same sources, the ilvl of the rated gear will be 195.
All these gear dont have pvp specific stats (pvp power, resilience or whatever)
So, according to that it will mean that the pvp gear will be ok when facing a low geared pve player (up to mythic).
But the pvp player will be outgeared pretty quick by the pve players when they’ll start to run mythic+.
The reason of my post is simple: Blizzard will introduce pvp vendors. They’ll separate rated and unrated pvp gear, which looks the same that what we had between BC and Pandaria. Nice.
But why are they stopping there? What’s the point in all that, if the pvp gear cant compete in … pvp?!?
Then, maybe I have missed something, and please let me (us) know if you have additional infos on the subject.
But I really dont understand the point in building a whole pvp system again, if it’s not viable.
I’d like to hear your opinion on the subject, and especially the ones who (like me) have been waiting for the return of a viable pvp vendor system for 2 expansions now.
Because there is no point in doing that. This expansion will be a “raid mythic or suffer” expansion as well. Even in m+, it will be ridiculously long to get good ilvl (unless someone is really lucky) when only one person gets loot at the end and of course BiS is as far from guaranteed as possible.
They created multiple systems which is great because never found raiding interesting, but none of them is equal to raiding. Do m+ to get gear for mythic raids, do mythic raids to get your BiS items, and now you can finally play pvp without getting stomped in a second. It’s not a coincidence that most of the high rated pvp players also cleared mythic raiding.
As far as i know, right next to the pvp vendors is an upgrade npc with a similar interface than Benthic gear in BFA, which uses conquest to upgrade pvp gear.
Last time i read about it the vendors were PH and conquest wasn’t implemented so I dunno how it’ll work exactly but the goal is to seemingly upgrade your pvp gear past the starting ilvl with the conquest (and perhaps honor for combatant gear) you’ll get each week from PVP, most likely with a cap at some point.
Big question is whether there’ll be a rating requirement to upgrade past a certain ilvl or if Blizz will simply use the amount of conquest you get each week as a way to balance things and prevents LFR heroes from getting mythic quality gear in a week
Unranked pvp’ers can currently get mythic quality gear is they spend dozens of hours farming HK and then craft the professions BOP gear. i’d like conquest upgrade to work like that tbh, not being capped but slowly work toward your gear.
There’s also what looks to be a common weekly chest for PVP, M+ and raids which will look at what you did that week and let you pick one among 6 items or offer “an universally useful option” (source => Blizzcon panel). It’s currently in the beta but not working yet iirc.
This means that m+ won’t impact PVP nearly as much as it did in BFA as you’ll have to pick between the pvp reward or the m+ one… Or at least that’s how I understand it, I may be proven wrong in a future beta update.
Oh yeah and for your information, PVP trinkets will make a come back in SL
